Please review Find A Grave's transfer policy: "Transferring of management should only be requested If you have extensive changes to make to a memorial. You can add photos and suggest corrections without having to request management. Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request. With hundreds of thousands of contributors, we have many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all contributors to manage their entire tree.

Second, Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren."

We live in central North Carolina. My late husband is from Barren County, KY, so a lot of the genealogy that we worked on is from that area.

Our main surnames in NC are McDade, Foreman, Weaver and Lashley. In KY Kerley, Branstetter, Jenkins, Simmons, Chism and Howard.

We have taken digital photos of tombstones in our area which are then posted on Cemetery Census.

William T. Butler
Thanks so much for the correction and the transfer.

I so wish I could find where James Alexander Butler was buried. William being a half brother and his mother having divorced his father in 1855 does not help any but one day perhaps I will find out this information.

William's half brother, Alfred Alexander Butler from a previous marriage is my great grandfather. I have an old picture of Alfred hanging in my living room. It's one of those oval thick glassed framed pictures. About 12 X 20.

I have copy of the divorce papers here if anyone wants a copy. Divorce in 1855 was so rare. And for the judge to have given her the custody of all three kids was interesting. I do know her father had a lot of money and a huge farm.

Thanks for your time in this matter!

Audrey Blackman

PS. Still trying to figure out where James Alexander Butler is buried. Nobody seems to know.

Find A Grave Memorial# 32665984
Concerning William T. Martin.

He is half brother to my great grandfather. Their father, James Butler, was married to William's mother in 1848.

She was from Barren County, KY and daughter to Charles and Mary Martin. Once married she moved to the county of her husband's residence in Adair Co. They had three children together.

In 1850 the family moved back to her father's farm in Barren County. Her husband left her to move back due to his disagreement with his father in law. (So he stated in the divorce trial.)

She, however, stated he was cruel and had a bad temper and she was afraid for herself and the children. She opted for a divorce in 1855 and it was granted. She then changed her name and the children's names from Butler back to her maiden name of Martin. She then later married a Davidson, a widower nearby. When he died she moved to Oklahoma near a brother.

William T. Martin's father was James Alexander Butler. He was son of Zidnor and Martha Bell Butler of Adair Co., KY.

I located Susan's burial place and added her as William's mother. Have no idea how James Butler Martin was added. I did not add him and opted to edit it to have it removed.

Thanks for your time in this matter.

Find A Grave Memorial# 32666101 Napolean B Scott
Would you mind helping me with some information on the Scott Family?. My great grandmother was Matilda Frances Scott Arnold. She is the sister of N B Scott. Is His DOB in 1858 or in 1869. Kentucky Birth records show 10 jul 1858. Kentucky Death records show DOD as 1934 and being 75 which would make his DOB about 1859 His grave marker shows 1869. There is another Find A Grave Memorial # 18755098 with te same picture but different DOD's and different cemetery's. Please dont be upset with me for asking. I just want to know which one is which. Thanks so much for your help. You are now in our prayers for a speedy recovery.

Irby Rhew
Hi Ellen,

You created a memorial for Irby Rhew back in 2009 and wrote the following:

Note: This Is The Grave of Irby Rhew Bound Out In 1819 by His Mother Polly Rhew To John Redmond, Sr., To Learn 'The Art and Mystery of A Hatter' Married Artelia Browning In 1831. He Is Said To Have Chosen A Rough Stone From The Eno River As His Tombstone

Do you know where this came from?
