I live in the Richmond, Virginia area and have been taking gravestone photos for over 3 years after I discovered what a great tool a digital camera is for that kind of work. I am trying to photograph as many of the cemetries as I can in the area. I also take my camera whenever I travel and and usually end up with photos from some distant cemeteries.|
I am the volunteer coordinator for the clean up of East End Cemetery in Richmond. Please contact me if you are interested in helping with the clean up effort.
The vast majority of the gravestone pictures that I've entered are of people I don't know. I've entered them to help others. If you'd like me to fix, add to, and/or delete any of your family members please email me and I'll make the change as quickly as possible. If you would like a copy of the original picture, let me know and I will be glad to email it to you.
If you would like me to transfer an entry to you, please let me know. I will be glad to do that.
Please request transfers and updates/corrections through the Suggest a Correction function so that I make sure I update the correct entry.
Note that much of the CSA related info for burials at Hollywood Cemetery was provided by Scott Hutchinson.

Thank You for your photographs at Find a Gravey. May I have your permission to include copies of your photos of my relatives' gravestones in my family tree at Ancestry? I will credit you as the photographer. Thanks. Susan

Thank you for your generosity in transferring:
Martha Christina "Mattie" Nukolls Ennis # 57000046
to my care.
With your help, I have successfully connected her with her parents, six of her eight siblings, parents, her husband and soon, I hope, to her five children.
As I receive more information, I will be adding to Our shared memorial.
With sincerest appreciation,

You took a photo of my great grandfather's grave stone...Charles B Ferguson (sept. 13, 1896 oct 2, 1918)
He (CBF) died before my grandmother was born. She was an only child and didn't take her adoptive father's name. Her mother went on the have 4 more daughters with the second husband.
My grandmother died young and so did my father. And I wish I had asked more questions of my Aunt before she died.
There seems to be no photos of him and this is the furthest I have ever gotten to finding out HIS parents' names!
His name also appears on a plaque on a memorial in Salem, VA for those in WWI who lived in Roanoke County. (this I have known about for 20 some years.)
Thank you for taking the time to not only hone your photography skill, but to upload all those photos and document these "strangers" for someone like me!
