Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've worked on my family's history for most of my life and I continue to hunt for more family and for their stories. There are some elusive members of my family tree - I know who they were, but not what happened to them. I am thankful for Find A Grave and the connections I've made because of it. I am delighted when I can help someone else in their search for family and friends.

Thank you for the edits for the Smith family memorials. If they are your family, I'd be happy to transfer the memorials to you.

RE: John Fulwood/Fullwood
Hi Vivienne,

Thanks for the head's up on that. I haven't found anything else, either. I know a couple of other people who were interested in this man haven't found anything. What a mystery! If you ever find anything out, let me know! I'd love to know!

Find A Grave Memorial# 42929266

I have transferred the memorial of your great-great-grandfather to you. I found his obituary in the Washington Post, but was unable to locate him in the Nationwide Grave Locator. I also checked the U.S. Veterans Gravesites, ca.1775-2006. Luckily, a volunteer found his stone and photographed it.

Karlie Wallace @ Vista
Hi! I'm the volunteer that 'works' Vista. My car is broken, and I am trying to find a bus route, since it is only a couple of miles from me. In the meantime, I have placed a photo of the entrance of the Park, together with an offering. But, unless the memorial is 'sponsored' the site will not allow another photo (the one of the grave that you requested) Anyway, I will keep you posted.

John Fulwood/Fullwood
Hi Vivienne,

Mr. John Thomas Fulwood is an interesting person, and I wish I knew more about him. Unfortunately, he is not listed in any of the interment records for Rose Hill and does not appear to be buried there. I've pulled the records several times for different photo requests (a number of people have requested his grave photo), each time hoping I'll find something I didn't find before. I've been told that there is a newspaper article about this man, but I haven't found it or seen it myself.

However, even though he's not listed in the interment records, Mr. Fulwood does have an association with Rose Hill Cemetery, albeit a bit mysterious. On June 10, 1849, a John Thomas Fulwood purchased 4 lots in Rose Hill: Lot 8, 9, 10, and 11 in Block 1 of the Holly Ridge section of the cemetery. I've also visited these four lots just to confirm that there isn't a grave for him. It appears the lots were sold off one by one, all after the Civil War, to different people.

Lot 8 was sold to D. Keating on February 15, 1893. The burials in this lot are: Dennis Keating (c. 1853 - 07/12/1903), James Keating (c. 1855 - 11/12/1900), and Mary Keating (c. 1829 - 02/23/1893). All are unmarked.

Lot 9 was sold to the Bennett family. The burials in this lot are: Martha Bennett (d. 05/02/1913), Carl C. Bennett, Sr. (c. 1889 - 10/20/1978, age 89), C.H. Bennett (04/02/1880 - 01/02/1924, age 44, unmarked grave), Charles F. Bennett "Father" (c. 1861 - 06/25/1912, age 51), Miss Louise Bennett (c. 1906 - 10/23/1933, age 27, unmarked grave), Mary Bennett "Mother" (01/23/1860 - 05/04/1913), and 1 non identified burial.

Lot 10 was sold to J.W. Sofge on May 30, 1904. The burial in this lot is: Clara B. Sofge "Wife of J.W. Sofge" (06/06/1865 - 04/21/1904). J.W. Sofge is not buried in this lot with his wife.

Lot 11 was sold to the Muecke family. The burials in this lot are: Sarah Allene Muecke (08/17/1883 - 05/30/1962), William F. Muecke (11/14/1880 - 04/17/1951).

I'm not sure if the unmarked burial in the Bennett lot is Mr. Fulwood or someone else. I spoke with two librarians at the local genealogical library as well; one has been there over 40 years. They had not heard of Mr. Fulwood, but we did some census searches and found the John Thomas who died in Macon in 1862. I believe he was originally from South Georgia. There was a John Thomas Fulwood living in Crawford County and a John Thomas Fulwood living in Houston County in 1860 as well, both counties are adjacent to Bibb County and Macon. I'm not sure which John Thomas purchased the four lots. I also checked the Rose Hill Soldier's Square records to see if the John Thomas who died in 1862 was buried there. I did not find his name in the 800 graves listed, but there were unknown Confederate burials there, so it is possible he could be one of those.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure if this is much help or not. I'm curious if you're a descendant of Mr. Fulwood - I would love to know more about this person and previous people who have requested his photo were not descendants, just interested in him after reading the newspaper article he apparently appears in.
