Today I added the gravestone photos for Luther and Mary Warrenfeltz to the memorials you created in the Salem UM Cemetery. On that stone is also listed Charles L Warrenfeltz. I added his memorial and the photo (# 180485128). I wasn't sure if he was their son or grandson so I didn't link him to Luther and Mary. Since it appears that this is a family line you are following based on your notes on the memorial, if you would like Charles transferred to you, just let me know.

|Peter Hoover||Regarding the Hoovers at Wolfsville and Ringgold, Maryland|
Dear Mike Hahn,
Greetings from Australia, and thank you very much for your information, photos and other materials about our Hoover family. It is always helpful to get bits and pieces together and since I live so far away it is especially nice for me to see the photos!
Regarding our Hoover line, and possibly because there are SO MANY of us, it is not at all surprising that there is also some confusion. I grew up always hearing that we were related to President Hoover (as your Find a Grave site says), but now, when I did my DNA test I discovered we are NOT related at all. Not even remotely. So I guess that is that.
But, if this makes anyone feel any better, we ARE related to William Hoover, the man with the vacuum cleaners, and most likely with J. Edger Hoover (who was also of a Mennonite background).
Also, there is another classic confusion regarding Anabaptists (Mennonites) coming from Switzerland. Anabaptists continued to leave the Swiss canton of Bern until well into the 1700s, and there are still some congregations in the area to this day. But, our Hubers / Hoovers did not come from Bern.
We Anabaptist Hubers came from Zürich, and we all fled the canton in the mid-1600s. We came first to the Elsass (Alsace) and later to the Kraichgau in Baden, Germany (the Sinsheim, Heidelberg area) by around 1665. By this time there were NO remaining Anabaptists in Zürich, except a few old ladies that were married to Reformed men. No congregations were left and emigration was totally forbidden and contacts cut off. Hence anyone claiming an Anabaptist background, and who says he or she left Zürich after 1650 is confusing something. Yes, our origin is Zürich, and yes we are of Swiss roots, but we came to America from Germany, not from Switzerland.
Does this make any sense to you? I just thought since you put so much work into this, you might like to know. All the evidence is, by now, widely known, but the definite work on the Anabaptists of Zürich (including our Hoovers) is by now Die Zürcher Täufer 1525-1700 by Urs B Leu and Christian Scheidegger. It is a truly excellent work and a joy to read, providing you handle the language.
All the best to you,
Rocky Cape, Tasmania, Australia
|Eric von Dorster||Yost Harbaugh|
I believe that the first wife of Yost Harbaugh, born in 1699, was Maria Margaretha Klein, daughter of Jacob Klein and Maria Magdalena. Yost and Maria were married in Otterberg on 3 May, 1725. Her brother Johann Georg was my 5G grandfather.
|Valarie Vine||George Harbaugh (1747- ? )|
The eldest son of George Harbaugh, he was also known as John George Harbaugh (born 8/11/1747-date unknown of death). He married Elizabeth Binchele (or Binkele). her dates: 12/19/1749-1/23/1780.
Information from "Harbaugh History" (Page 148)as follows:
*All these data from the Graceham Church records in the York Hist. Society from which we quote the following verbatim -
John George, eldest son of George and Catherine (Williar) Harbaugh married first Nov. 27, 1770, Elizabeth Benkele. He body was brought through the deep snow on a sled to the church for burial.
There were 5 children listed born to this couple (George Jr. 1771- ); Jacob (1773-1850); Elizabeth 1775-1855; John (1778-1854); and Infant daughter (1/10/1780-1/10/1780). Elizabeth buried her infant daughter in the garden the same day herself. Elizabeth died 13 days after her infant daughter.
Additional note about George Harbaugh (1747- ) ----"He lived for some time on the old homestead. Afterwards he removed to Bedford Co., PA and on one occasion, coming to the Valley on a visit, he took sick and died on his way home."
He had a second wife Marie Barbara by whom he had five children. If you want these names, let me know.

Hope all is well with you!
Re: your question about where the immigrant Yost Harbaugh came from in Europe. Page 400 of the "Harbaugh History" states: "In his 1856 Annals Rev. Henry Harbaugh thought that his ancestor came to America in 1736 from Switzerland. There is a record in the York Historical Society showing he was born in Kaiserslautern, Germany. We had reported to us from Kansas that Yost went to Switzerland about 1720 and from there to Philadelphia. We have never located an immigration record , nor the name of his father."
I believe Yost came from Germany and that the Switzerland connection continues to pop up because of the Rev. Henry Harbaugh book. I noticed a plaque added to Yost Harbaugh's memorial referencing Switzerland (the plaque was placed there in 1930).
|Carlene Steel||Elizabeth Wolf & Eliz. Wolf|
I'm hoping you have the info to figure out which one is which. LOL
I had the dates of the Elizabeth (Middlekauff) who was m. to John Wolf as being b. in 1795 & d. in 1823.
Now, in finding John's Find A Grave it took me to Elizabeth Wolf, b. 1785 d. 1853. So, this Eliz. is Mary Eliz. Middlekauff?
I also have Eliz. Zuck Wolfe (1782-1834) who m. Jacob Rowland which has me wondering about the dates & the one Eliz. above.
To make things more confusing, they seemed to use the "e" on Wolf sometimes, but not all the time.
Do your notes/cemetery notes have any clarification on the 2 Elizabeths?
Hope all is well with you & yours.
