Welcome! Just to let you know, most of my family roots are in Kentucky; so, if related, I am more than happy to transfer the memorial pages I have created. I love to reunite families with their loved ones. If needed, feel free to use the photographs I have posted on Find A Grave for your personal ancestry documentation. If so inclined, you can always give credit for the source.

I stumbled upon the following poem and thought it was so succinct in describing why we do what we do. . .

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hallowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Ms. Shreve,
It looks like we are members of a very extended family which the internet enables us to do a better job of keeping in touch.

I hope you can help us Nissens in Houston, TX. I think you are from our forebearers Lycurgus and Mary Etta Ray who moved here from Kentucky. My grandfather Julius Nissen was the son of Nicolas Nissen who was born in Schleshwig-Holstein, Germany and died in Lake Charles, Louisiana. We are also looking for whatever you might have about Lycurgus Ray. As noted here, he died in 1914 in Houston. He caught pneumonia walking home from work from being a night watchman. We know he is buried in Hollywood Cemetery but they have incomplete records. If you have any data on either of these people, we would appreciate it very much. Thank you. Ray Nissen

Robert Casper Herps (1912 - 1912)
Hello, Patty. My name is Debra Lynn Herps-Tipton. Thank you for creating this memorial page for Robert Casper Herps. My father was George Edward Herps and his father was George B. Herps. Robert was the son of George B. and my father's half-brother. I started working on my family tree about 4 months ago and have not had much success in getting information about my relatives/ancestors. I am not sure if you have any information on any of the Herps family that you would share with me, but I would appreciate anything you have. I would be grateful if you had any photographs of any of them as well. My Email is Thank you in advance for your help.

Regarding Matilda Barbara Andres Schroerlucke
I received a message from you regarding my posting of "Matilda Barbara Andres Schroerlucke-Memorial# 162394720" as a duplicate. I can't find another one. There's also a memorial for
"Carrie Schroerlucke". If you know the memorial number of the other one for Matilda could you reply with it for me. I just can't find the one you are trying to tell that I made duplicate. I appreciate you alerting me. If mine is a duplicate then I will added her death certificate to the original one and delete mine...Thank you.

Hello, I do not know if Find A Grave will correct this, but in adding Maggie as his wife, I added the dates of marriage in the link for all three of his wives.

My grandmother, Carrie was wife #3! Maggie was #1 and "Ree" was Maggie's daughter, not Lucy's. I have sent edits to contributors. Thanks fo all your work on this great site!

RE: Find A Grave Memorial# 163483230
The cemetery is called the Cornelius Ball cemetery. It is not on find a grave. I doubt that more than a handful of people have been there in the last 20 years. One of the most secluded cemeteries I have ever been to, and I have documented over 400 cemeteries in this area.
