Welcome! Just to let you know, most of my family roots are in Kentucky; so, if related, I am more than happy to transfer the memorial pages I have created. I love to reunite families with their loved ones. If needed, feel free to use the photographs I have posted on Find A Grave for your personal ancestry documentation. If so inclined, you can always give credit for the source.
I stumbled upon the following poem and thought it was so succinct in describing why we do what we do. . .
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hallowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Patty, thanks for pointing this out to me - boy did I get a wrong number! You did an amazing job with this cemetery.
Thank you so much for honoring my father Ray Alexander Nissen. He has been gone almost 30 years and I still miss him. He was one of those rare people who could light up a room when he walked into. He always had a positive attitude about life and loved every day of it. He also loved any movie or TV show about the navy and two of his favorites were McHale's Navy and CPO Sharkey. Thank you for all of the help you have given me. Ray Alexander Nissen, Jr.

Thanks for posting the death certificate of William S Caton III who died in Pocatello in 1926. Billy William was my Dad's little brother. So we must be related somehow. I'll send an email too, but if it doesn't go through, I'm at firstname.lastname@example.org

Patty, Thank you so much for the info and pictures you have added. Coleman Smiley was my grandfather and I'm trying to connect all of the missing pieces and was so glad to see a picture of his tombstone.

It looks like we are members of a very extended family which the internet enables us to do a better job of keeping in touch.
I hope you can help us Nissens in Houston, TX. I think you are from our forebearers Lycurgus and Mary Etta Ray who moved here from Kentucky. My grandfather Julius Nissen was the son of Nicolas Nissen who was born in Schleshwig-Holstein, Germany and died in Lake Charles, Louisiana. We are also looking for whatever you might have about Lycurgus Ray. As noted here, he died in 1914 in Houston. He caught pneumonia walking home from work from being a night watchman. We know he is buried in Hollywood Cemetery but they have incomplete records. If you have any data on either of these people, we would appreciate it very much. Thank you. Ray Nissen
