When I was researching my own family, I received a great deal of help from complete strangers who were willing to help me without asking anything in return. This my way of paying that forward. So it tickles me beyond words to discover my headstone photos as part of someone's family tree. How sad would it be if after all the photos are taken and posted and researched and documented that no one looked at them or cared that they were there. So to those of you who have found my photos and made use of them, thanks for caring and you're most welcome.|
I feel that its important to say at least a little something about each of their lives. They lived, they loved, and had families. For those that have nothing there, they're not forgotten, I just haven't gotten there yet. And while I don't always cite my sources on each memorial, for Long Island special thanks goes to Carolee Nichols Diamond and David Roberts for their unending patience and wealth of information; the transcriptions and family photos of Elbert N. Carter; George Moraitis, Historian for the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Port Jefferson (R.I.P. my friend); Steve Gill from the Patchogue Cemeteries Restoration Committee; Dan Prunty, Ruland Funeral Home and President of Cedar Grove Cemetery, for his patience and tireless trips into the basement.
If you find something that needs correcting, or if you have information you'd like added, please use the SAC and I'll be happy to make the changes. If you need to contact me, send to aislin at optonline dot net
(p.s. Nastiness and rudeness will be ignored completely and any correspondence will be deleted without further thought.)

Thank for the photographs of the headstones of my family members. My grandmother was Edith Alma Lawles, daughter of Silas Lee Lawles, Jr. and Mary Ann Black. Edith was born on 14MAR1889. I hope to get to Brooklyn this summer and take a visit to the cemetery plus areas where they lived and worshiped.

Is there a way to personally contact Aislin to say thanks for the research?

Lake Ronkonkoma Cemetery. The record is missing his date of death so I thought you would like to fix it. It is: April 10, 1945. Thanks for all you do!

There is a headstone for Samuel Gates. It is to the left of his wife, Zibier Gates. His # is 159239554. I posted a picture of his stone on your memorial page. I was there last May and saw it there. Not sure why the cemetery says it isn't there unless it is recently missing. It's a bit hard to read due to wearing, but it is readable in person.
I tried to find her obit after I came across your edits and as of yet haven't found anything. I tried putting in just her last name but the bakers are almost as popular as the abrams and clock family so at first 6,000 articles came up. I'll try again this weekend. If nothing pops up I might just call the cemetery and maybe they'll give me the date. I tried the social security death index and couldn't find her on there.
I completely understand about not fully trusting ancestry trees all of the time. I came across my grandmother on there from an extremely distant cousin and she had inaccurate information on my grandmother as well as her dad and grandfather. I sent her a message explaining that her info was inaccurate and gave her the correct info and she never made the changes.
but anyway did you try the long island surname site? I know that site can sometimes be a pain but its another source. It drives me crazy also when I can't find what I'm looking for also. I know from past experience that if you send me an edit it's bc you've done your research..some people not so much. I've talked your ear off enough so I'll let you go. let me know if you come up with anything.
