If you want corrections made please use the EDIT tab. It makes it a lot easier to go to the site and make changes.
If the memorial number is not included in the correction request, there is no guarantee the changes will be made.
If you see some of your kin and would like to manage the memorial let me know and I'll be glad to release it to you.
I am not concerned about the number of memorials I manage.
I am very concerned about accuracy.

I don't know who wrote this poem but how true it is.

Wandering among the stones I see
The stones so weathered and worn
‘Tis difficult to find the date
On which the babe was born

I stare at the stone and am struck with awe
At the life that I knew was gone
This was someone's child, a babe so sweet
With loved ones to carry on

So I take a photo for all to see
For the family that remains
An everlasting memory of
A child of God's domain

I brush the weeds back from the stone
And say a silent prayer
For the babes that had no chance to live
And for mothers everywhere

The dove calls out it's mourning song
Among the stones so still
Echoes of the woes, through time
The choirs of despair

The stone will someday perish
The flowers will be gone
But a photo now remains of this
Their memory lives on!

And so my friend, don't hesitate
To film the weathered stone
Those who live within your hearts
Are never truly gone

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Family memorial
I just found the memorial for my wife's father and we would like to manage it. His name is John Ray Lowry. The memorial id # is 102094939
Thank you. David Merrick
P.S. I am new to this site, and this is the first time I have asked this, so I'm not sure if there is anything else I need to do.

I noticed you posted requests for Rigdon photos. I have some Rigdon photos, but not the names you listed.

RE: Sarah Kanaday
Sarah's granddaughter, my great aunt passed this year at the age of 100, but she was the one and her son to help me find her grave. I was able to order a stone and marked it to the best of my ability. You are so very welcome. Many Blessings to my Gamblin Family!

PB Decherd
Mr. Gamblin
I am a cousin of Frances Decherd Gamblin. The reason for my writing is that after seeing you contributions on findagrave, I thought I might ask if by chance if you have a photographic record of Frances's grandfather, Peter Benjamin Decherd.

I recently inherited many pictures from my first cousin, among them a wonderful picture of a Confederate soldier who *may* be PB Decherd, but regrettably, it is unidentified.

Might you be able to help me identify this picture?

RE: George Rigdon
I don't have the Gamblin / Rigdon marriage in my notes, but my research has been limited to Maryland, Washington Co, PA, and Stark County, OH, by 1830's. I'm sure these Rigdons have descendants further west. If you get back to those areas, I may have some answers and will be happy to share.

RE: George Rigdon
I'm embarrased! Sorry that I didn't read the correct procedure to use in editing. You were very nice and didn't even mention it. Thanks.

Are you a Rigdon descendant? If so, I would love to know how we are related.

RE: Rigdon/ Hillcrest Cemetery
I think it's just that particular cemetery. Others that I talked to said they have never heard of such a thing.

Hello fellow Find A Grave member,

I had planned on accepting your request to HILLCREST Memorial Park in Pickens, SC, however I spoke to a representative who was quick to inform me, and I quote, "HIPAA laws prevent anyone from obtaining burial plot information or taking pictures; only direct family members or the plot owners are allowed to do so."

I am familiar with HIPAA laws because I work in the healthcare field. To make sure that I had not missed any information, I reviewd the website No where on that site, could I find any information that would pertain to a cemetery, much less one refusing to give burial information or allowing photography. HIPAA laws are meant to protect your medical information, not the location of your burial spot. I also checked the Pickens County website, again, I did not find any information to support what the representative told me.

I contacted a few other local cemeteries to see if they would tell me the same thing and none of them knew anything about these supposed privacy laws. One of the other cemeteries was even maintained by a neighboring county. I would think if any cemetery office would know, it would be the one maintained by a government office!

By the conclusion of the call, the cemetery representative mumbled something about if the person making the Find A Grave request would call the cemetery office, give their relationship to the deceased, then the plot information might be released. He continued to mumble something about possibly taking pictures but it was almost entirely inaudible, then he hung up on me.

I ask that if you wish to continue with your request, call the Hillcrest Memorial Park office at 864-878-9312 to obtain the plot information. I am not sure of their exact hours, but I would suggest calling between 9:00am-5pm, EST.

RE: The Rigdons
There were requests for two Willie Rigdons on the request list. I used the dates to match the photos. I apologize for any incorrect entries.
So far, I have not found a marker for Willie Rigdon b.1898 & d. 1941. I intend to look again.
