Bio and Links
I am a married GenXer with young children, working on my DAR paperwork (I've located 8 patriots so far). The genealogy bug hit me when an elderly relative sent me a link to an online blurb about a relative who was killed during the Civil War. Since then, I have been on sites like Find A Grave and Ancestry daily, building my family tree and trying to discover where we came from.

I keep full-size files of all photos I post, so just ask if you want me to email a particular photo. I'm also happy to transfer memorials to direct relatives (based on Find A Grave guidelines). Just let me know how you are related.

This memorial (#75128722) is for Ethel Butler. You have her place of birth as Hickory Co, MO.

Though she and her parents were living in Hickory Co, MO in 1900 Federal Census - I find no other record of her being born there. Can you help me with this? Just need a source for your information.

thank you for your assistance with this request.

According to obituary she is buried at Maple Springs Cemetery, in Conemaugh Twp., Somerset Co., PA

Oscar L. Harding, aged 45, of Jenner township, killed himself Wednesday morning at the Frank Shaffer farm, near Gray, after firing several shots at his wife. Mrs. Elda Schmucker Harding, aged 42, two of which passed through the woman's abdomen. Harding was rushed here to the Community Hospital where his death occurred three hours later. Mrs. Harding was taken to the Johnstown Memorial Hospital, where she died at 4:00 o'clock Saturday morning. Monday preceding the shooting Judge Berkey directed Harding to pay $40 a month toward the support of his wife and young son, following his arrest on a charge of desertion and non-support. It is thought that Harding sought revenge when he opened fire on his wife Wednesday morning. Be-living her dead he then fired a bullet into his head. The shooting occurred at the house of Mrs. Harding's brother-in-law and sister and sister., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shaffer. Harding was released from jail Tuesday morning under $800 bond to comply to the court order to pay the Stipulated amount to the support of his wife and child. Harding went to the Shaffer home Wednesday morning and entered the house while the Shaffers were working about the barn. He shot his wife once while she was sitting at the breakfast table and when she ran outside the infuriated husband followed her and fired again one of the bullets striking her in the neck. He then turned the weapon on himself, the Shaffers finding both bodied lying side by side. Harding and his wife were estranged since early in February. Harding was the father of nine children by a former marriage. Mrs. Harding was the mother of four children by a former marriage, her first husband having been Lavan Miller. The couple had one child, a son 18 months. Harding had been employed by the Consolidation Coal Company. His brother, Clyde Harding, according to information learned by local police authorities was tried on a charge of murder in Mercer county recently but was aquitted. A charge of non- support of a child is now pending in the local court against Clyde Harding. Harding's body was turned over to Undertaker, J. N. Johnson, Berlin to prepare for burial and was removed to the home of Ralph Landis, of that place, who is a brother of Harding's first wife. Funeral services were held at the Landis home Sunday afternoon. Interment was made in the Odd Fellow cemetery. Corner H. S. Kimmel, after viewing the body of Harding at the mortuary of Landis & Hauger, decided that an inquest was not necessary. Mrs. Harding was a daughter of Mr. nad Mrs. John Schmucker of near Pilltown. Two years ago she was married to Oscar L. Harding at Jennerstown. Besides her parents Mrs. Harding is survived by one son, James Harding, aged one year, of the second marriage, and four children of the first marriage, John, Dwight, Anna and Sarah. Mrs. Harding also leaves these sisters, Marion, wife of Frank Shaffer, of near Gray; Emma, wife of John Walters, of Jenner township; Pearl, wife of Daniel Lape, residing on the Schmucker farm, near Pilltown; Ida, wife of Harry Friedline, of Jennerstown, and May, recently married to Jacob Zimmerman of Somerset. Funeral services for Mrs. Harding were held at 10 o'clock yesterday morning in the Maple Springs Church of the Brethren. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Use of Pictures
I noticed that you uploaded a photo of the grave marker for Betty Jean Chrisman (Find A Grave Memorial# 43404689). Betty Jean passed around 4 months old, and was the younger sister of my grandmother (Louise Eliza Chrisman Titus). I was wondering if you would mind if I saved off the picture of Betty Jean's marker, and uploaded it to my entry for her on Ancestry.com?

Appreciate your time.

RE: Silence Fagan
I am assuming since she was living with the Hanning's when she died she would be buried there. Look at he 1880 mortality schedule I posted as a source. Is there anywhere close she could be buried? Still looking for Pearsons grave here in PA.

Do you take pictures of just your family members or others as well? This is my uncle and I don't know much about his biological dad.
