Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am the daughter of Elvin Eugene and Varline Dora Schneider Montier. I have been married to Jerry N. Gililland for 43 years and have two sons and six grandchildren. We are retired and live in the Texas Hill Country.

After retiring and moving to Texas, I began researching family for both my husband and myself. Among the covered over graves in the Teague Cemetery were found three of my husband's family members. Thomas Eastland Dawson, Sarah Curbo Dawson, and Nicholas Henry Dawson who was killed and scalped by indians in 1870.

My husband is also a descendant/relative of Nicholas Mosby Dawson, William Mosby Eastland, and Robert Moore Eastland who are buried at Monument Hill, in LaGrange, Texas and John Singleton Mosby as well as Lewis Johnson who is buried at the Alamo.

RE: Dillard A Schooley
I can't add the photo because it isn't mine but perhaps if you request one, that photographer will catch it.
You should put the memorial back into Manila American. While he isn't buried there he is memorialized on the wall at Manila American. That particular cemetery has memorials for both.
I apologize if you thought you should move it out of the cemetery. It was not what I intended.

Elizabeth Betty Gilliland
Hello! A new Texas cousin has done his DNA and I'm helping mine to accomplish that too. Meanwhile cousin was told that there's a High degree of relationship to your Elizabeth Betty Gilliland b. Tyrone, Ireland 1766. I've been tracing Robert sr & Jr but lost them beyond of Kentucky. My husband's GGG GF, Robert W. was supposedly born to James of Barren County in 1810. There are several James in Rev.War but no son Robert W. shown for those I've found - and he is not listed in James' will, only his second set of 6 born before Robert are. (James d.1817) The only other Gilliland in Barren was Robert who shows in land doc of 1799 I think it is. I think I found that Robert sr died before our Robert W. was born. James does list a son John and "others who have married" prior to his will. There is also a "strong probability" of relationship to John who mar. Sarah_____" This could be the brother of Robert W, son of James.
If any of this sounds like something you've found in tracing your husband's Gillilands, I'd love to know! There are so many of the same family names! I would love to see who Elizabeth descends from and/or any John/Sarah relationships.
By the way, Robert W. moved from KY to ARK thence to Dallas area then to Van Zandt Co Tx. There is also a William A. Gilliland there who is caring for the children of Lucy (Morris) Flowers whose husband was murdered and who then marries Robert W. Gilliland. I feel there's a definite connection to William A. also.
Would be so grateful for your reply to me with any directions how to reach you? Happy New Year!

Hamrick Cemetery
Mrs. Gililland: You have posted a picture of Hamrick Cemetery in San Saba County and I was wondering if any of the tombstones you took a picture of have names?
I have Hamricks that married into my Barnett family and I have to tell you that the picture of this cemetery interests me greatly.
I would really like to know more about it.
Thank you.

Jusat want to Know
Hello again. Would you please answer a question for me. As required by Find A Grave Rules, we can no longer scan obituaries to memorials. I now rewrite the obituaries in my own words, not verbatim and excluded any living persons, as required. Do you still want me to send obits this way. If you do not wish to enter such info, would you please let me know so I will not bother you anymore. According to Find A Grave Rules we can still scan death certificates, is it alright to add death certificates to your memorials? Thanks a regards.

Photo of Thomas Eastland
Do you have a source that verifies that the photo is actually Thomas Eastland 1777-1860? Where did the photo come from?
