RE: Pliny Stowell Cemetery
The cemetery was located at NW 1/4 of Section 33 Hastings, at 15th and Pine. What was the cemetery is now a park..with ball fields etc...all you will find there is the memorial I posted on finda grave to the pioneers. It was platted in 1865...Pliny Stowell was buried there...but, he was moved to the Lakeside Cemetery. Some of the others were moved to various other town cemeteries...including the Soldiers Cemetery. The removal of the cemetery took place in 1959. Would have been great to have a picture of what it looked like...

Really to bad, to have destroyed such a historical site...

There are surely unmarked graves still at the site...but, only known by the grace of God.

Pliny Stowell Cemetery
Hi John, I noticed you'd left a message for BJ regarding Pliny Stowell Cemetery. Did you ever find out where the cemetery is located? Pictures on site says Pioneer Cemetery. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know any Sextons, but I'll ask my mom. She was real close with the cousins in this family. I will also talk to Grandma. My daughter is named for one of Ragnhild children, Nora.

I am related and to the Donnellys too. Some of the Donnellys from the cities still come down regularly to visit my grandma in St. James. Ragnhild aka Raila, was her grandmother and we know many fun stories about this wild woman!

Question
I was down at the Fairview Cemetery and took some pictures while getting the one I wanted. I have a question. Example: I took a picture of the stone for V Rock but noticed that it says something about not adding photos to your posting. Does this mean I need to delete the photo of the stone? I'm sorry if I have done something wrong by adding the photo. Please let me know if I did wrong and will delete it.Thank you Sue Stenberg smsten1@unitelc.com
