I have been working on my family tree for over 30 years and it is still a work in progress. I am easily excited when I can break through a stone wall of information. The information is out there now, obtainable through the internet, which when used as a tool, is a good thing. |
I was born a Tate and I married a Barker. My Tate hertitage comes from Virginia through North Carolina to Elbert County, Georgia, to settle in Tallapoosa/Coosa County, Alabama. My mother was a McNeely from Atlanta. I am also part of the Futch (Brunswick, GA) and Yarbray/Treadwell (Whitfield/Murray Counties, GA) famiy. It seems I learn something new every day.
My husband is a Barker from the Sequatchie Valley, Tennessee, mostly in Sequatchie County and there are a lot of branches to the Barker Family Tree. He has always lived in Sequatchie County, and before moving here I lived in FL, AL, and CA. I have lived in Dunlap, Tennessee, since 1974.
I have always been facinated with cemeteries and the craftsmanship of the old tombstones. So this is right up my alley.
I am very happy to assist anyone with information/photos for their family tree.

John and Ester Barker are my great grandparents.My grandmother is Edna Patton. Her daughter(my mother) was Marion Jean Petty Knight,Edna's daughter. I have very limited information about my mother's side of my family.I am wondering how I am related to your husband? Thanks for any information. My mother died of suicide in 1974,so her side of the family,seem to be cut out of my life.
|R Daniel Proctor||Looking for a Vance Barker|
I'm looking for a Vance Barker who worked for the L&N Railroad. My family lived next door to Mr & Mrs Barker in Huntsville, Ala., in the 1960s. If you're kin I'd like to share a memory or two.

That is real amazing that you would travel that far to take photos in that "off the main path" cemetery. I appreciate your good work and hope to help you some day.

Thank you do much for honoring my photo request
|Deborah McNeely||McNeely family|
Please disregard. I mixed up my family with my husband's. The Brinsons are not in the McNeely line. Sorry for the confusion.
|Deborah McNeely||McNeely family|
I have been building our family tree on both my family side and my husband's. He is a McNeely and I have traced him back to the mid 1700s to Hilary Brinson, a soldier in the American Revolution. It seems every day I find someone in our tree with new leaf hints and it answers more questions. If you have any pictures of McNeelys that you can share, I would be so grateful. Thank you. Deborah McNeely
|Lyndal Britt||Corp. Elijah Bowman|
Elijah Bowman was my great great grandfather on my mothers side. His son Robert B Bowman was my great grandfather and Robert's daughter Susie Bowman was my grandmother. Elijah was in the Union Army during the War of Nothern Aggression. Elijah is buried in the Howard Walker Cemetery.
