Bio Photo A Southern Family Tree is not a tree but a beautiful Wisteria Vine with many branches going everywhere and a lost root!

NSDAR 1988 Patriots: Rev. Lewis Cookson Davis, John Anderson, Charles Heard, William Hay, Lt. Willis Pope, Nathaniel Jones,John Stovall, Absalom Davis and Owen Griffin. Only one has a known grave site so the rest do not have memorials on FAG. (Update Nov 2015: found that other members are now making unknown burials of these patriots meeting their genealogy storage goal and not FAG's goal of recording graves sites)

To keep weeds out of the beautiful Find A Grave garden....

First, I don't link to Burial Unknown Site Memorials as BU shouldn't be on FAG according to the guidelines of the website. Do not request relationship edits to a BU as it will be refused. The first criteria for making a memorial on FAG is having the burial site, as this is a grave registration site. When you made a BU, you have a chance of losing the memorial to the member who "Find A Grave" in the cemetery.

Second, I may or may not transfer outside of the guidelines to an established member. It is my choice. Long-time hard working-members, who are busy in surveying cemeteries and taking grave photos impress me more than someone who is collecting others' memorials for their personal goal or waiting for someone to find the burial sites for their numerous memorials made with an "unknown burial site".

If you are seeking transfer to "have all your family together" ~ use the virtual cemetery button. Then all of the memorials will be in the same "cemetery", and you can look at them daily.

Lastly, there are no duplicated memorials on FAG. If I find a duplicated memorial while researching this site, there is 99% chance that it will be deleted or merged eventually.

You may disagree with the guidelines but remember the guy who started Find A Grave wrote them. He is the boss.

Many of the memorials transferred to me were done without my request for them. These memorials have found a home and will be nurtured.

Also, thank you for all the flowers and tokens left on my family's memorial. They are all sincerely appreciated by me and my family.

Remember to check on the Discussion Forums here. They are very newsy, helpful and interesting!

Linda, last night I added the edits for her Birth and Death info. I made the death date correction. Headstone photos added. Thanks so much for all your attention. I want to visit some of your virtual cemeteries and add tokens when time allows. Especially the Veterans. You Have a Blessed Day... Sandi

RE:Printout
Linda: if you can help me with a problem navigating the site I'd be able to get more done in our cemetery. Since almost everyone in here has numerous relatives interred in the same cemetery it would be a tremendous help to have a printout with the memorial number and possibly an indicator of which preferred pics are attached. The Excell spreadsheet either doesn't have the numbers or the format is impossible to decipher. I've been thru the help sections and can't seem to find what I can use. Can you help me out of my dilemma? Bob Call, Charleston, SC PS: be sure you're using
bobcalljr@comcast.net Sometimes "reply" uses an address that is intended only for the exchange server. After it spends several minutes bouncing around in the server it goes back to the sender. Really irritating. Thanks

Thanks for your message.

I had already included some of the same information you sent me in the last few sentences of the biography, and I just added the current name of the park.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Regards,

Bill McKern

RE: Colson
Hello Linda,
You have given me lots of important information
that I can use on my Colson search. I really do appreciate your thoughtfulness. My Colson's have
Cherokee blood and were from Baker county, Ga. I have not done DNA yet, however that is something I need to think about doing.
You didn't give up on your search, either. I know
you worked many long hours, days and months and
then the DNA proved what you were searching for.
You give hope to other searchers and I thank you
for that. You are a very kind and careing person.

I have searched for decades for my Colson's
parents. I was just taking a chance someone might see my message and could help me. I am eighty
years old, so I just keep on searching for them.
Thank you for your kindness.

Correction in my e-mail about Lucinda and
Elizabeth Colson. They moved to Florida
about 1859 instead of 1959, sorry about that.

A. Phillips. They moved to Florida about 1959.
Lucinda married William and they are buried in

Elizabeth first married John Phillips and had two sons William M. Phillips and Joseph that lived
in Columbia county, fl Her second husband was
Alexander C. Laing (Lang) in Lake City, Fl.

RE: LTC Authur C Harmon
The City of Novato ref'd me to the Novato History Museum. Judy Brady w/ the Novato Historical Society researched the grave listing and found not reference to Major Harmon being buried there. He is also not on the listing of "Memorials" in the park adjacent ("Pioneer Park"). Both he and his wife's obits show services at Unity Church if Marin. I contacted the office at Unity via email and phone requesting info or for them to pass it on to a family member to who could assist my inquiry. I received no response to either my call or email.

Do you have any contacts with the "William Campbell Chapter" of the Tuskegee Airman in Emeryville, CA. There is an address for them in his Legacy.com obit. Writing to them may be the next best action. They may have info?

RE: LTC Authur C Harmon
Hello Linda.....sorry I have been away for awhile.
Yes that cemetery is inactive. I checked with the local Novato historical society. They keep a list of graves. LTC Harmon's name is not in it. The most recent burial was in the late 50's. I am trying to see if he is in another cemetery around here. I have contacted the church he and his wife (now also deceased) attended per their obit's, but as of yet have not heard back. I will keep looking. I am in Marin County. Let me know if you have any other needs/inquiries in this area. Tara Hawk
