I found this obituary for this gentleman. You may add to the memorial if you wish. Thank you. Mary

Article appears in The Abingdon Virginian, Abingdon, Virginia, Friday, 6 February 1863 reads...

Died, on the 19th of January, 1863, at the residence of Mr. J. W. Vaughan, in Abingdon, Virginia, Mr. Chilton A. Sandusky, in the 18th year of his age. In the death of this premising young man, Kentucky loses one of her brightest ornaments, and literature one that worshiped at its shrine. He was pure, gentle, modes, unassuming, and filled with all the instincts and emotions that ennoble humanity. In literature he had already taken a high position, and bade fair to rise to an eminent distinction. Nature had endowed him richly with that rarest gift and his books was his passion. Though in delicate health at the time the army entered Kentucky, in response to his country's call, he was among the first to go out in her defense. He volunteered in Jessamine County, Kentucky, of which he was then resident. Having served three months, he was stricken down and sent to Emory Hospital, where he remained three weeks, and then returned to Abingdon, where he remained until his death; and thus he passed away, no relatives near to save an only brother. He was noble, just generous and brave.

In his last affliction, he was patient and uncomplaining, and died tranquilly. Could the kindest attentions, the sympathies and prayers of a brother and friend have saved him, he would not have died; but he has gone from the strife of war and the clash of arms. The Confederate army has thus lost a brave and gallant soldier, and his relatives an ardent and warmhearted friend. Peas to his ashes and when the clarion trump of God shall sound may he spring from his duty bed to have a part in the first resurrection. But Kentucky will cherish the memory of Chilton as one of her brightest jewels, and living, he would have asked no better reward.

James Parker Memorial# 26772738
Hi Mr. Weathers,
I notice you have a Findagrave Memorial# 26772738 for James Parker. It indicates he was born in 1716 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. He is my 6th Great Grandfather. Do you have any information documenting his birth in Delaware County, Pennsylvania or can tell me what led you to Delaware County, PA ??
I would appreciate it. I keep running into deadends trying to go the next generation back. I have been searching thru Pennsylvania county records but cannot find anything other than marriage for him.

Many thanks,
Tom Parker

RE: Hillard's in Beard's Cemetery
You are welcome. Really interested in managing Sarilda (g-mom) and Johnny's (Uncle), if you would pleeeease consider it. My g-mother never legally married GA Hillard but they are considered common law at least. She sent off and bought one of those marriage licenses you use to see advertised.....years and years ago - ha!
Anyway, thank you. I'd manage all of them in my message to you and appreciate the time you've spent documenting graves. I'm trying to do some at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington

Hillard's in Beard's Cemetery
Hello, the following Hillard's are my direct family. I'd be interested in taking over mgmt of their pages, if you would approve...
- GA Hillard (#16804988) is my g-father (step)
- Sarilda Hillard (#16804993) my grandmother
- Johnny R Hillard (#16804973) my uncle
- Roger W. Hillard (#16799469) is my cousin and both parents still living.
- Infant son Hillard (#16799875) is my cousin & I have a corrections... father's name is misspelled - stone transcription reads "Fulton" but name on the stone is "Lilton" (known as Lelton) and both parents living.

If you prefer to not transfer them to me, will you consider linking the ones you can and making the corrections? Thank you

You have birth year as 1716 but I noticed on several family trees they have 08 Mar 1726. Where did you obtain the 1716 birth date
