Scott & Winlan
Hi Karen,

I found an old post on from 1999 where you stated that your ancestor Owen Scott marryied a Mary Winlan. Were you ever able to establish who Mary Winlan's parents were? I'm also very curious about a reference you make to a Jacob Winland living near them. I wasn't able to discern from the post, but I think it might have been in Whitewater Twp in Hamilton Ohio? Can you tell me more about this Jacob Winland and where you found him living near your Scotts or where your Scotts once lived?

The reason I ask is that I believe I am descended from the Winlands of Monroe County Ohio but I haven't been able to establish how. I understand that the Winlands came from Lycoming County PA but my ancestors were thought to come from Greene or Washington Counties PA around 1810. So your mention of Winlan in Greene County PA around this time has me curious and hopeful that this could be my missing link to the Winlands of Monroe. My ancestors lived in Monroe OH but I cannot establish them in Lycoming PA.

John J. Earlywine

I believe this is my great grandfather on my grandmothers side. Her name was Fern Ann Earlywine.
My mothers name was Elva. Her siblings names were, John,Mary and Lyla.
I just recently found this name in some papers. I would really like to find out if this is my great grandfather.

Thank you

Thank you, Karen, for the photo for William & Mary (Giles) Ricketts. I added your photo to Mary, with a caption, photo courtesy of Karen Windheim. What a winter this has been - stay warm as I have heard from my cousin in Indianapolis how cold it has been....Pat

Moses LeGrand
Ms. Windheim,

Moses LeGrand is my GG Grandfather. I was very curious as to where the image you posted came from.
I have 3 other pictures that are similar in style that are supposed to also be LeGrands but I'm not sure who they are. One is supposed to be "Aunt Ames" who I don't know and the other two are men.
If you think you might know who they are I would be happy to email them too you. My email is

I have a photo of Moses wife Rhoda which I'm going to try to post this evening to her grave page.

Thanks very much,
Michael Robinson
