I have a photo of Barbara Sue's Memorial at the cemetery in Houston. I was going to upload it, but there is not room. I'll email it to you and you could delete one photo, and add the memorial photograph if you want. Email me at randorka@peoplepc.com. Born 1947, died 2011. I shot the crematory wall in the cemetery today, and I try to upload all the vets. If you email me, you'll get a message saying it is spam, but I'll see it, so you don't have to do anything.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I would like pictures of Alva's truck. When I was little, perhaps 4 or 5, he got a hood ornament for it that I remember as being Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer because the tip of it lit up red.

I'm sorry to learn about Homer's tragic death, but glad he lived so many years.

If you have any photos of the old house, I'd like to have a copy of that, too. To me it was a mansion. I called Georgia "Gran Gran." She had a fine black car and Alva and I would take her for Sunday drives. There was an old gray horse, too, named Ranger. I would ride him in the back pasture, sometimes bareback. Oh, what wonderful memories!

I wonder if you and I ever met. If so, I don't remember. I just remember Homer as a handsome, very nice man.

Is there a way to make these messages private?

Thank you.

Dear Mr. Blake,
Thank you so much for the photos of my step-grandfather, Alva George McKinney. I am now 72, and my love for this man is still so strong. We adored each other. When I was a little girl, we spent hours together riding in his truck to take rice to the dryer, and at his mother's beautiful house in Cedar Bayou. For all practical purposes, he was my maternal grandfather, since I never knew my biological grandfather. I was devastated when he died. It also is good to see once again my "uncles" Forrest and Homer. I am grateful to you.

Thanks for sending his obituary. It adds so much to his memorial. I do not know of him. If you would like me to transfer his memorial, let me know.

Thank You Mr. Blake!
Dear Mr. Blake,

Now it's all coming together for me - I didn't realize you actually knew my Dad, but I'm glad you had the opportunity to spend some time with "The Commander". He was definitely one of a kind.

Again, thanks for all you do.

Dear Mr. Blake,

I logged on to Find a Grave to add a memorial for my father, John Paul Lacy, only to find it had been already been done, by you. He died in January, and you had his memorial added VERY shortly thereafter. You do excellent work and it is timely as well, and I appreciate the time and work you devote to preserving our history. How do you do this so quickly, with all you do?

Would it be possible for you to transfer Dad's memorial to me?

Thank You,

Do you know if Jan Corman is still alive? I thought it was strange that she wasn't mentioned in Blaine's obituary.
