About transferring Memorials -- Generally I am fine with transferring memorials (save for those that I have created for family members). If seeking a transfer, please give me the Find A Grave memorial number AND your own contributor number. Please determine if you really need for management to be transferred. Transferring of management should only be requested if you have extensive changes to make to a memorial. You can add photos and suggest corrections without having to request management. If you do have extensive additions/changes to make to a memorial, please contact the me via the "Suggest a Correction" link under the "Edit" tab on the memorial in question with your request to have the memorial management transferred to you. Be sure to include the reason for your request. Please don't send a vague note demanding that I transfer your relative's memorial to you and then expect me to guess which one of my Find A Grave entries your relative might be, while making me hunt down your contributor number on top of it. It ain't gonna happen.

What I am not fine with are requests to transfer entire cemeteries. I've gotten notes to the effect, "I'm related to a some people at _____ Cemetery, so just transfer the entire cemetery to me." While I don't mind transferring a few people, transferring an entire cemetery is a time consuming exercise since each memorial has to be individually transferred. Please don't ask for that. If you request an entire cemetery or a large number of memorials to be transferred, you can expect to get a note from me asking why you didn't take the time to create all of the memorials in question, particularly if I have taken the time to photograph the headstones in the entire cemetery. And rude notes like "Gimme that whole cemetery and hurry up with it!" are not going to get a response from me at all.

Poston Transfers
Thanks for the transfers of the memorials for Mary Inez (Bonner)Poston and her husband James Theodore Poston and Harry Mack Poston. My cousin was using my computer and didn't realize he had signed into his F-A-G account when I sent the previous message. So it went out thru his name.

John Hugh Brock (Walnut Hill Cemetery)
Thank you for posting this information which is the ONLY record i find for John Hugh Brock or his wife. I'm a Cochran relative but know less than you on this line. If you have time, I was wondering if you share your source. I believe you are correct but the 1940 census casts a very small doubt. I don't if there is a sexton or contact for the cemetery. You seem to know it well.

John Hugh Brock is listed in Find A Grave # 36070093 as dying in 1920 and buried in Walnut Creek Cemetery, Bradley, and Lafayette, Arkansas. No picture of a grave marker. Plot: Section 1, Row 6, Grave 2. He is next to his spouse Louise Lindsey Brock b. 9 Feb 1872 in Arkansas and died 5 Jun 1962. I do not her parents She is in Plot: Section 1, Row 6, Grave1. Find A Grave Memorial # 36070094.
In 1930 Census, Louise J Brock was in Bradley, Lafayette, Arkansas. She was listed as widowed and head of household.
I found 6 citations in US City Directories, 1821-1989 beginning in 1933 and the last found was in 1946 in Shreveport Louisiana listed “Brock, Louisa J (widow of John H). Beginning in 1927, their daughter Vivian L Brock was living as a single woman in Shreveport, Louisiana and employed as a stenographer. 10 citations were regarding Vivian were in US City Directories. Last date I found her was 1943.
The 1940 census, Louise L Brock was listed as married and keeping a boarding house in Shreveport, Louisiana. . Hugh Brock was listed as 71 year old husband and living in the home. Her daughter, Vivian was also in the home. Louise was marked as in informant. She was listed in 1939 and 1940 City Directory as a widow.

I appreciate any help you can give. I understand you many memorials and may not have time to address individual questions.

Thank you. Barbara Long

RE: George Pickett IV
Thank you so very much for the information that you shared, Mr. Morgan.

Yes, his first wife, a school teacher and 2 children lived in Wilmington, NC as did his former in-laws. A terrible death for a man so young. His son was West Point also, but did not stay and was in the class with Robert E. Lee V.

I knew Geo. IV was accomplished and I want my daughter to know more about the Pickett family history.

Thank you again,
