If anyone is interested in Doan/Doane/Done/Dowen, etc., genealogy, please consider joining the Doane Family Association. Information can be found here:|
My grandmother, Wanda Zirkle Jilka, and great-aunt, Veda Zirkle Vickery, compiled a book commonly referred to as "The Red Book," "Zirkle Branches 1725-1978, Yesteryears and Yesterdays." There are several copies for sale if anyone is interested. It mainly outlines the history of two Zirkle/Zerkel branches which left VA, went to OH, then settled in Richland, Shawnee Co, KS.
"Life is not separate from death. It only looks that way." Blackfoot Quote
"A Visit to the Gravesite"
Your Tombstone stands among the rest,
Neglected and alone.
The name and dates are chiseled here,
On polished marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care,
Though it is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist,
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you,
In flesh and blood and bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago,
I wonder if you could have known,
Would spread among the ones you left
In all the seeds you've sown.
I wonder how you lived and loved?
I wonder if you ever knew?
That someday I would find you in this spot,
And come to visit you?
Walter Butler Palmer

I have updated Rose's page in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka, and I'm working on her husband's.
Thanks for the links you sent for her page.
|Ellen Bishop||RE: Thanks so much|
Thank you I copied that to his memorial, I wonder what Indians they were rounding up and yes, how did did he get buried in Bell Fourche? I have a friend who may know something about this situation I will send him details and see what he knows.
|Ellen Bishop||Thanks so much|
for the information on Milton Frost , it is always so good to find out more about my memorials. Makes me curious about his Indian expeditions!
|Celese Moore Dodge||RE: Memorial # 86472825|
His grave is in the Captain William Moore Cemetery in Mattie aka Blaine, Kentucky on the old Moore Farm Homestead. Here is the link to the cemetery page: https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&GSvcid=454328&GRid=104139258&CRid=2481688&
The correct information and memorial is: Memorial# 104139258.
This person plus a lot of cousins help take care of the cemetery and does the family genealogy for that side with help from us fairly new cousins in genealogy, like me.
|Carl W. McBrayer||Infant Son|
Actually I have already recorded the second child (Infant Son) Evans... my memory is sometimes not the best...
|Carl W. McBrayer||Double Grave?|
Becky... I can't make it out memorial 30078038 but is there another death date below "infant son." Also with my transfers today you might want to check any possible duplicates... Good Luck
I should have asked - where are Felix Emil and Pedro Thedore buried so I can connect them to Emilie.
I have a lot of info on his Civil War service on my tree if you are interested. His two sons enlisted at the same time. I have some of their records.

Are you connected to the Held family? This Peter was my adopted Grandmother's grandfather whom she never knew about. Her father always told her he had come to America with a brother and a sister and had left their parents in Germany. I have done this research on the family for my precious Grandmother. I just wish I had done it while she was alive.
