|Pete Mohney||RE: OSCAR L. WHITE at ELMWOOD|
Glad to have helped with this photo! I really enjoy visiting the cemeteries, and helping preserve history. It's an endless project, but I know others have helped me with my relatives, and it makes me happy to help others, especially when I can fulfill requests, though simply walking the rows and taking a couple of hundred photos on a sunny day is a pleasant and productive way to spend the day.
By the way, I see that you have several other photo requests at Elmwood. If you can call the cemetery office at (205) 251-3114 and get the block and lot for these requests, and update the memorial with that information or send it to me, I can try to get them photographed. I would do it myself, but I can only get 2 per visit, and I always ask for the two oldest requests, so this will get your pictures a lot faster.

Thanks for calling to my attention the duplicate memorial for Ralph Gandy. Sorry I have no further information on him as this was his obit that was published in the newspaper. Mary
|Kristy Howard||RE: JOHN CLEMENS LINDEMAN|
The 1900 census shows John as a 28-year-old widower, so I would conclude that he must have married at least twice. Anna was married to a man named Frank Nation (married 7 SEP 1903 Scott, MO) before she married John. She had a son with Frank and this child is listed as living with his maternal grandparents in 1910 (https://familysearch.org/tree/person/9MZ6-G1X/details). John Nation (Anna's son from her previous marriage) is listed with his uncle and maternal grandmother in 1920 (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GRXR-CZ4?i=49&cc=1488411). John Nation passed away in 1965 (http://www.sos.mo.gov/images/archives/deathcerts/1965/1965_00050736.PDF)
This is the death certificate I found for John Lindeman http://www.sos.mo.gov/images/archives/deathcerts/1930/1930_00003874.PDF
Anna's can be found at http://www.sos.mo.gov/images/archives/deathcerts/1950/1950_00015576.PDF
Based on the 1910 census they list John as being 40 and Anna at 27 years old. On the 1920 census, there is a lodger listed that would be the same age as the foster son listed as "taken to raise" on the 1910 census (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9RJD-9XK?i=55&cc=1727033). I do see on the 1900 census where he was listed as an Adopted son with Mary Lindemann as the head of household (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-DHR4-7M5?i=10&cc=1325221). I am not sure what may have happened for this child to be raised by their family. Maybe his first wife had a child before their marriage? Does this seem to fit with any of the information you have? Please let me know if the links listed are not loading properly. Thanks for contacting me.

Created a new record, but the owner of the other record needs to correct.

You recently sent me this message:
Do you happen to know if this is BESSIE HARTWELL daughter of James aka Jim Hartwell Find A Grave # 76186649 and Sarah E Wiggington Hartwell Find A Grave # 76185817? I strongly suspect that this is correct Bessie Hartwell since she did marry a "Boring" or Bering and resided in Flint area of Michigan. However I do know there were two Bessie Hartwell's born in Missouri about late 1905 early 1906...Any Help would be greatly appreciated if I have the wrong Bessie.
I am sorry to say that I cannot help you with this. I really don't know.

This is the link to th e death certificate for my Grandpa. It lists Ben as his father and his mother as unknown. The information was given by my Grandmother. I believe Jake and my Grandpa were 1/2 brothers.
Grandpa is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden. I have not located a grave site for Ben yet. I have several other relatives buried in Rosewood Cemetery in Malden.

|Chris||RE: MARY POLLY MARGARET NELSON CUMMINGS AT ELDER CEMETERY+|
There are some Elders listed in the cemetery records next to Mary Cummings (Elder section, Row 1Ö see list below). In my wide-angle picture of Mary Cummings's marker, you should see 2 markers to the right. Elizabeth & CP Elder (Plots 17 & 18 respectively) and the bigger marker to the right is William Elder and then Susan Emily Elder Creath and her husband E.B.
Plot 16 MAY be for America Rhoda Elder since there is no first name listed in the cemetery records- just Elder. Even though the book lists a plot between 15 and 17, there does not appear to be the usual space for a plot or a marker. The markers in the picture are evenly spaced but Iím not sure how orderly the burials were at that time. If it is not her, you may have a better idea of other people that it may be.
If she was approximately 20 years old when she died then that could have been shortly before her mother died in 1893.
This probably doesn't provide a definite answer but I hope it helps. I will ask some of the local historians.
BTW, the records may be incomplete (missing dates) but Mary Cummings appears to be the 5th burial in the cemetery. The oldest that Iíve found so far is Nancy Hopkins (1870).
15 Cummings, Mary 1792-12/28/1882
16 Elder, _______
17 Elder, Elizabeth C P 4/1/1829-10/25/1893
18 Elder, C. P. 12/5/1829-12/3/1896
19 Elder, William S. 8/4/1866-2/4/1911
20 Creath, Susan Emily Elder 7/3/1855-5/16/1926

If my photos have helped with your family history, then I am pleased. Without people--such as you--recording and preserving history, there are many people who would just disappear. Your work keeps them alive.
