My name is Rita June Collvins Mayfield. I was born February 20, 1942 in Jackson County, Oklahoma. I married Vernon Roy Mayfield on April 16, 1971. My primary hobbies are gardening, oil painting, genealogy and of course cemeteries. There is something comforting about strolling through the cemetery and reading the stones. I have recently moved to Cordell, Oklahoma, but have lived in Oklahoma most of my life. Once an Okie, always an Okie. I am slowly trying to get all my family memorialized here. My virtual cemeteries represent my family, unless otherwise noted. I am going to make them public once again, and hope I can leave them without the misuse that occurred previously.|
If I have a memorial that is anyone in your family, and is unrelated to me or my husband, I will be glad to hand it over to you as I don't adhere to the 4 generation only guideline, just contact me. I count it a joy and a job well done if I am able to pass on your loved one to you. It is my number two reason for doing this, second only to wishing to save all the old and battered stones from being lost forever. If you find errors on any of the information on my memorials, please get in touch with me with corrections. You are welcome to use my tombstone photos on your family files and family trees, just note where you got it.
Please don't post death certificates or census reports in the picture area on my memorials. They don't belong there and are detrimental to the looks of the memorial, plus it takes up room where photos could be placed.

Just saw you were in OK and didnt know if direct kin. We are working on the cemetery and making great progress. If you are looking for any particular info on your family I might have some.

Hi Rita! Yes it would be difficult to do physical labor since you live quite the distance and that would not be what we are necessarily expecting although we do need volunteers for that aspect as well. The cemetery needs approximately 6 tablet stones repaired. The are broken in half. There are also 3 rather large stones which need to be secured to their bases. While not in really bad shape, the cemetery does need limbs and brush removed out of it and the grass mowed so that other possible graves can be discovered. I believe we will get enough volunteer to remove the brush and basically clean the cemetery. However, it costs quite a bit of money to repair stones and the cemetery does not have an association or bank account. It would rely solely on donations. I cannot elaborate here, but you may write me at firstname.lastname@example.org which is the email address for the Washington County Cemetery Preservation Group, Inc. Thanks!

We visited the Mayfield Cemetery in Washington County, Arkansas today at the request of the landowner. And we found that there are six tablet stones that are broke in half and three rather large stones which need to be secured onto their bases before they fall over and injure somebody. There are plenty of limbs and dead trees that need to be removed as well. As part of the Washington County Cemetery Preservation Group, we try to organize crews to clean up cemeteries and we try and organize persons to do repairs to stones. Please contact me at email@example.com to discuss the cemetery. Thanks!

I am looking for help with a burial in the cemetery from 1909. Do you know how to contact the caretaker?

It is my belief that all three sons of Sam & Bessie Dodd were cremated, that is why you can't find a cemetery for them.
Sam an Bessie Dodd are buried in Goleta cem., In Santa Barbara, County,
I know where Ray's ashes were scattered, bc Shirley & I did it our selves in Ray's old fishing
boat, which Louisa sold to Jeff Frame at Copco
Lake before she died on Oct 8, 2008.
I hope this answers some of your ??'s

Recently, I sent you an answer to this, but I dont know if you received it or not. Guy III
