Bio and Links
Bio Photo In my genealogical research whenever I come cross a veteran of a war I check to see if he/she has a FAG memorial whether they are my ancestors or not. If there is not a memorial I create one if the burial location is known. If there is an existing memorial but military service is missing or scanty I do a bit of research and request the info be added to the veteran's bio. These brave veterans contributed much to the history of their country and to our freedom. It is very rewarding to remember these fine patriots.

"It is a thing of no small importance to possess the relics of our ancestors, to practice the same sacred rites and to be buried at their side." -Cicero

I DID find this matching record for Cassius Crandall's MOTHER:

Martha Clark (Crandall)
Birth 18 AUG 1826 Andover, Allegany Co., New York
Death 18 JUL 1889 ..New York

Date of death and age is exact...this marker has to be for her, but husband (Cassius' father) George must also be there (there was no other data on reverse side of this marker), and the GAR holder is for him!

George Crandall enlisted in December of 1861 at Andover:

Name: George W Crandall

Birth Date: 29 Jun 1816

Birth Place: Bridgewater, New York

Father: Russell Crandall

Mother: Susanah Perkins

Residence Place: Andover

Enlistment Date: 13 Dec 1861

Enlistment Location:
Andover, Allegany, New York

Regiment: 98th Infantry

Company: F

Rank: Drummer

Race: White

Marital Status: Married

George Crandall was living with son Almond & Grandson L.P. in Andover in 1900 census, but was not in 1905 census.

Were hoping we could determine something better on site...or find out where the office is. He is buried right next to Cassius Crandall, but I've had no success searching for Civil War records that match his place/age where the soldier is unaccounted for...looking once again right now.

RE: Littleton R. Bailey, Memorial# 84615844
The censuses are very helpful.

But, I would like to know the sources of the information for the dates and places of birth and death for Moses Littleton. And for the name of his wife, her date and place of birth, and her date of death.

Thank you very much for responding so quickly.

Houghton Family in Westminster West Cemetery
I'd really like to thank you for entering the Houghton family into Find a Grave. I grew up in Westminster West, helped the Sexton keep the grass mowed in the Cemetery when I was a kid, and grew up in the Houghton family house.

It has been great fun exploring the census records and seeing names of neighbors, children of neighbors and names I recognize from hanging out in the cemetery.

Thanks so much
