YOU CAN ALWAYS TELL WHERE A BEAUTIFUL SOUL HAS BEEN BY THE TEARS AND THE SMILES LEFT BEHIND

My Lanigan ancestors came to America during the Great Potato Famine of Ireland. Their first child Sarah was born in New York in 1847. Her father John Lanigan and her uncle James Lanigan helped to build the first railroad into Fairfield, Iowa. (name spelled Larrigan in 1860 census) Both signed up for the Civil War in Jefferson County Iowa at Lockridge, Iowa. Both were Catholic. They both settled in Ottumwa, Iowa and that is when my grandpa James Aloysious Lanigan was born in 1860.He married Anna Phillips at the old St. Patricks church at Ottumwa on the South side.

I've got more family info if you want it. He was my great great grandfather. Photos too. Not interested in having anything to do with Ancestry.com

My profound thanks for the transfer. As I continue to research Catherine and her kin I may have to reach out to you again for guidance, or opinion.

In re: Mary 'Catherine' Mefford: FAG# 11686383

Dear Ms Lanigan:

First, I'd like to thank you for the most thoughtful memorial you created for my aunt, Mary 'Catherine' Mefford. However, I would be remiss were I not to recognize and credit the significant body of history you have conserved, again my thanks.

Recently, I have sent an edit to correct the placement of her maiden name as Mefford, not Maring — her second married name.

As no stone marks her grave do you know if the Rominger Cemetery in Batavia maintains any burial records which might identify the plot where she rests?

Would you be amenable to a request to transfer her memorial to my care? Regardless of your decision, I will continue to add any additional data I discover.

Éirinn go Brách,
George

James Hanna FAG # 9479080
It appears that James Hanna Find A Grave #9479080 is listed as buried at Hanna Cemetery, but actually is buried at Masonic Cemetery Find A Grave #
135963195. There is a picture of his stone and his wife is buried
there as well. I have also sent this message to the person maintaining the site at Hanna.

Thanks, Daisy

Hello! On this memorial, you left a note stating that Margaret Louise Doebler Wolf was the daughter of Henry Doebler and Mary Schafer. I was wondering if you had any information concerning this relationship that would help me verify her connection. Thank you.

RE: EARL McCARTY
Thank you! I know about your McCarty family. We briefly corresponded a long time ago and there was no connection between the families.
