Bio and Links
Bio Photo Please DO NOT send a request for me to link a memorial to yours if your memorial is "burial unknown".

I have been doing gene research for about ten years and have an extensive tree on Ancestry.com. My kin come mainly from the Northeast, Canada, Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. I am a Maker, a Parker, a Harvey, a Heath and a Kemp. I have extensive roots in Cutler, ME and Merrimack, NH.

I love wandering old places and especially graveyards. One's name may never been written previously or since, one's life never recorded other than the engraving on the stone.

"To gather up the records of the past and present, and faithfully transmit them to the future, is a duty which one generation owes to another." - The Rev Ira C Tyson, Bedford, NH 1885

Many of the memorials I have created are for family members, but once I get to a graveyard I photograph many stones and add them here as well. I am thorough and link memorials when the data is on the stone or if I have uncovered it in my personal research. I do not see these memorials as my property and will gladly transfer non-relatives to anyone with more info, a relationship, or more care. I will gladly and quickly make changes/additions/link relations upon request also.

Please feel free to use my pics without request as you wish. I took them for you! My camera takes awesome pics that I need to shrink in order to upload them to findagrave; if you would like a copy of the better pic emailed to you please ask - it really tickles me to find a pic someone has been looking for.

Many other contributors are playing a numbers game and I think they have lost sight of the purpose: documentation. If you are too busy to make requested changes in order to properly document one's LIFE, if you enter the bare minimum of info when more data is readily available, if it is all about entering one more name, please be gracious when one asks for a transferal of the memorial. Nobody is going to list how many memorials you created on YOUR memorial! 100 thorough, family-linked memorials are better than 126,000 half-assed name listings with death date years - but only in my opinion.

Some folks on FAG are re-creating their family tree here which is JUST SUPER if they know where they are all buried. The problem is that they often add memorials without burial information in order to be able to link other memorials together. I take photos to document a grave, and I search the same cemetery on FAG for the name before creating a new memorial. I do NOT search all of FAG because I know darn well where they are buried - so If I duplicate a memorial that one of you idiots list as "no cemetery" then forgive me for not considering my memorial a duplicate.

That being said, there are many contributors here that truly care that these memorials matter. They spend hours in graveyards and on their computers to ensure that these folks are not forgotten. In their profiles there is no mention of the website rules. All they ask is that we care. I do.

RE: Nathaniel Boynton (1694 - 1757)
Thanks for your quick response and explanation. I had not noted that you did not link to burial unknown, and I can certainly see, based on your remarks, how that could create serious problems for you. Who determines the reason given for the not making the edit, i.e. fraudulent etc.? That was very disturbing to me as I am a frequent user of Find A Grave, manage about 90 memorials for my direct ancestors, and am frequently contacted by folks searching for their ancestors who discovered them and connections to other family from the information and links I have provided in my memorials.
Yes the objective is to "find the grave," but sometimes we can't and can still memorialize the life of our ancestor with "unknown burial." The Memorandum allows us to find our ancestor, uncover their vital history, facts about their family, and to link family members and generations of families together. My goal has been to link immediate family members and from them, to follow their path of life back into the roots of the family tree.
I would like to demonstrate that to you. In this case follow me forward from Nathaniel's memorial to his dau Mary Boynton Williams, to her dau Mary "Polly" Williams Barker Johnson Baker, to her son John Johnson, to his son Isaiah Boynton, to his son Orville Alexander, to his son Melvin Everett, my father who died in 2013.
Had we taken this trip forward from my Dad, we would have came to Nathaniel and the journey is over. Now, thanks to your perfect note, you can go to his father Joseph. Unfortunately there is no memorial for Bridget Harris Boynton. But you can then go to his parents Joseph and Sarah Swan Boynton. from Joseph to the immigrant ancestor of this Boynton line John (1614-1669)and his wife Ellen Pell also an immigrant. You can follow Joseph Boynton's wife Sarah Swan to her immigrant parents Richard and Ann Spofford Swan and back through both of these families children into many many lines over centuries. So you see this is how many folks are using Find A Grave in their genealogical research.
I have spent many hours linking family members together, siblings and children, and families to families, and I have had many, many people contact me grateful for the additions these links provide to their family history and research. The joy is finding so many living cousins while joining together lost ancestors and discovering who we are in the human family.
I hope you will consider providing a note and link if others who send edit requests that have unknown burial places rather than the fraudulent response. Your note and link on Nathaniel's memorial to Joseph's has made a continuous journey possible from my father's death in 2013 back to John Boynton's birth in 1614: Four hundred years and 9 generations. And did you count the number of people who were linked to gather in all these memorials and take that times going out from everyone of the links on every page. Dare I say hundreds to thousands?
Thank you also for the new photograph of Nathaniel's headstone.
My deepest gratitude for completing this family linkage, and for all of the memorials you create and photos you take.
Barb

Nathaniel Boynton (1694 - 1757)
Hi,
I have sent an edit to link Nathaniel to his father Joseph Boynton 1670-1755 (Find A Grave Memorial # 111919169) several times. It is rejected saying it appears fraudulent needs to be reported.
This is not fraudulent. Will you please reply and explain why the edit is not being accepted.
Thank you

David Richardson gravestone
Hi Amy
I just updated to Legacy 9.0. It has a special location for all my find a grave id #'s. I see that you have David Richardson # 96765307 in Sunnyside Cemetery. Sunnyside Cemetery is located in Sugarhill, Grafton, New Hampshire. You do not have the town listed, just the county and state.

Hi Amy,
Parents connected to Memorial. Again, sorry for delay. I now live in Arizona, but I truly loved the beautiful cemeteries in New Hampshire. Michelle
