I am a direct descendant of the Richard Haines who left England aboard the ship "Amity" in 1682. He died on the ship and his wife and kids settled in NJ. Richard was my 6th Great Grandfather. There are a lot of Haines in the US from this Richard. Nathan Haines of OH was my Gr Grandfather. Ebenezer Haines who married Rebecca Berry was his father. Nathan Haines married Sarah Iiams in Grant Co., IN. I have also done a lot of research on the Iiams name. My Grandfather E. Morton Haines was born in Grant Co., IN in 1865 and moved to OR in 1892 where he lived out his life. I have a lot of family connections to Grant Co., IN.

RE: Bert Leroy Day, 138813657
Thanks for the offer to transfer the Days to me, but I am not related. My interest cropped up through Martha Dowty's daughter, Hazel Deardorff, whose second husband is my cousin, Emrie McKinley. Regards, Diane

RE: Bert Leroy Day, 138813657
Thank you for your speedy reply. I used the "add more spouses" link on Martha's page, so I don't know why Bert would have been unlinked. I have been using Find a Grave for about nine years, and this is the first time this error has occurred. I no longer contact the manager of a memorial to suggest an edit because I have been burned a few times. Some people are extremely possessive about memorials and can be nasty. I can't approach your 20,000 plus additions, because I spend most of my time doing research. Thanks again for all the good work you are doing. Diane

RE: Bert Leroy Day, 138813657
Hello, Nathan. There is obviously some misunderstanding here. I didn't send an edit that I didn't want Martha Viola Dowty, 138813648, linked as his wife. I never knew her or him, and I certainly have no animosity toward either. What I tried to do was to also link her to her first husband, John Vernon Deardorff, 103154839, with whom she had at least seven children. I think all the children and spouses should be linked, if we can find them. If this causes a problem for you, don't bother to link them. Sorry for your trouble. Regards, Diane

John Samuelson
Just another note: the other John Samuelson obit confirms our suspicions ...
John Edwin d. Jan 1956: "husband of Olene; brother of Mrs. John Brustad, Herbert, Fred, John and Antone Samuelson".

Haven't found Fred or Antone anywhere.
I put up a photo request, I hope you can easily get plot numbers. Thanks for all you do for F-G.

RE: Herbert E. Samuelson
This is interesting, I appreciate hearing about neighboring plots.
I will add John K. and Winnie memorials to the cemetery, and try to figure out the connection. And I will add photo requests.

The 1971 obit for Amanda Samuelson Brustad mentioned "sister of Herbert and John Samuelson," without mentioning any of the previous deceased siblings. I was confused because I already knew of a John Samuelson I thought was in the family who died in 1955. Maybe this is one of those Norwegian families where there were John I and John II because they had more than one John to name their sons after. They arrived in 1907 after the kids were born. By the time I find them in 1920 census many had flown the nest already.

Best regards,

RE: Thelma V. Winchell
I found her death record tonight. I am related to Thelma through her father's line. She would have been my 3rd cousin 1X removed. Are you related to her too?

She died in Vancouver, B.C. If you want I could send you a copy of Registration of Death that I found.

I would love to share more information on Thelma and her family if you are interested. My email is on my Find A Grave home me through that if you want a copy of the death record.
