THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY |
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hallowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Please look at the subject memorial - it would appear the photo you added of a marker is for Lawrence's parents. As Lynda has now added a photo of Lawrence's marker, could you delete yours?
Thanks in advance, Mark

Hello, Leilani. How are you? The actual death date for my grandmother, Ella Georgia Wallace is March 3o, 1939. I'm not sure where she is buried but Nacogdoches is probably correct. I didn't realize I had her death as 1941 anywhere. I need to correct that. I haven't worked on the Henderson tree in a while but I'm starting to work on it again. I'll check out where she is buried and if it is different than what you found I will let you know. Take care. Good to hear from you.
Leilani- I walked through the Laie Cemetary this morning but didn't seen Donnette Kekauoha's gravestone. I did find/take pictures of graves for Willard K Kekauoha & George Kaluna Kekauoha/Esther Seu Chin (shared marker) if those names are of importance to you! Let me know!
Aloha Cousin! Just wondering how your are? Nan

Hi Leilani, I got your edit submission to change her middle name to Oku and last name to Manini. Uncle Jacob was my partner's Great Aunt's husband, Uncle Jacob is related by marriage to Aunty Siliua Anae. I have an obit for him that named his other spouse, Anna as Oku and step children of Uncle Jacob's that was Mary's children, they had last name Oku, there was a Richard and Rita Oku. Thank you for the last name Manini, till now I was not aware of this maiden name. Are you related as well? Mahalo, J&R
You're welcome. Happy New Year!
