Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've been working on my Rote genealogy for many years and am a member of the local genealogical society where I learned about this site.
My home is Central NY,near Syracuse, but my "Rote roots" are in Columbia County, NY and I have discovered more family members in Berkshire Co., Mass.
Just started to take photos for others on Find a
Grave. I enjoy the hunt!

RE: Lafayette and Lydia Photos
Hi Karen,

you're welcome! My mother, Betty Cole Dudas, also a Dryden Griswold descendant, had amassed a collection of old family photos. Although I have copies of these two photos of Lafayette and Lydia, the photos I posted here were originally uploaded to a genealogical website - someone else had the kindness to share them, and they were a lot better quality than my copies which were photographically enlarged and cropped, so I re-posted these two, in lieu of my actual copies. I tried contacting the person who originally posted them, but never heard back. I was hoping they had higher resolution scans of them, although these look pretty good!

Thank you for the caption under the headstone of
Sopia Hooker. So many times these headstone inscriptions are hard to read.
There is one question I have to ask...death date on the top reads Jun 9, 1826 and the caption reads 1820. Can you clarify?
Thank you.

Certainly you may use them if you give me credit. Happy to have found them for you. Wonder where the brother is?

RE: Sarena Rote headstone
Your welcome.
The headstones are located at the far right of the cemetery, about 15' from the fence across the front.
Made change. Also, took more pictures (including Rotes) and in process of uploading.

RE: Baldwin family in Shell Rock
Well, it is too bad the stones are so covered with lichens so they aren't very readable.

I am glad to help. So glad you can enjoy them!

RE: Baldwin family in Shell Rock
Karen,

Was Cornelia buried there also? Was she a Baldwin also? There were five Baldwin stones and one huge Baldwin monument. Four have so much of that algae on them that they are barely readable, but the M Grant Baldwin one is very nice.

I spent 4 hours at the cemetery and took photos of all the stones that are there, so if there is a stone for her, I will have it.

I will post those for you today and email you the "originals". Feel free to use them how you wish. I do not have a THING about "ownership" of the pictures. I just want them to be precious to the person's family and friends.

Happy EASTER. Jesus is alive!

Baldwin family in Shell Rock
Karen,

I have the photos for the five Baldwin family members - Phoebe, Thomas, Sylvester, Almy and M Grant Baldwin.

I am sorry to report that the only one that is readable is M. Grant's. I know which ones belong to the others, but they are all quite covered with fungus. I hope someone can clean them to they can be restored. The Baldwin monument is the largest stone in the cemetery!

I will be posting them as soon as possible.
