I have worked off and on for 40 years on my family history and now have gotten hooked on findagrave!--which gives me a break from working on putting my family history books in order! Family names are McKee, Murray, Havens, Low, Pollock, Wright, Humbargar, Bowmaster (Burgermeister), Crowley, Leathers, Hinebaugh, Starkey, Marriott, Kinch, Heels, Holcomb, Adams,Summers, Saunders, Gish, Kinzie, German, VanSkiver, Sturdy, Birckhead, Ripley, Frease, Arbour, Vincent, Scout, Craig, Dyer, Bookout, Clock, Johnson, Stout, Jarrett, Snodgrass, Polley, Fear, Lumpkin -- just to name a few! |
I am married, mother of 2 grown sons and 2 grandchildren. And I am thankful for all the volunteers not only on this site, but others who have helped me so much on my research and I try to help others in theirs. Computers have sure helped!

|Keith Holt||John Marriott Sr.|
I just stumbled on your wealth of info about John Marriott Sr. and his descendants. My wife is his ggg-granddaughter by way of John's son Thomas.
How are you related?
I have very good pics of Thomas Marriott and his family.

|Shaughn Gray||Wilkinson Gray|
I have run into that information before. I am not sure if it is correct or not. The history book of Randolph County has Wilkinson living with his in laws around age 80 having never married a second time. I have found some possible info that there may have been a second Wilkinson Gray that was a nephew of our Wilkinson Gray. The information that I have is that Wilkinson had a brother named Elijah that also named one of his sons after the famous military Hero, Wilkinson. The dates and ages seemed to show the Wilkinson that married Jennetta was younger than our Wilkinson. I do not have anything positive. That is just what I believe at this point. I haven't tried to Research Wilkinson brother any further.
|Shaughn Gray||Wilkinson Gray|
This is the info we have for Wilkinson Gray.
Moved to Wayne County in 1816, to Randolph County in 1835. Farm was 1/2 mile west of old Losantsville which is North of where Losantsville is located today. Married at 18 with 3 children before he was 21. Had 10 children total. Randolph history book says he never remarried till his death for 34 years at age 80. His son-in-law, Isaac Crouse lived with him till his death. Buried South of Losantville in Nettle Creek Baptist Cemetary. He was a member of the United Bretheren which had a meeting house in the beginning near the Antioch Burying-Ground, just within the suburbs of Losantville: The meeting house ceased to be used about 1855, and the society worshiped at a house west of Jordan Halsted's. About 1875, a new society was formed in Losantville, and the society met in a public hall. Wilkinson was a member of I.O.O.F. (Losantville Lodge N. 232) The lodge was formed May 18, 1864. The lodge burned down June 24, 1870. New hall built in 1881. Around 1881 Wilkinson was an officer (V.G.) Daniel Devore was (N.G.) at the time. September 24, 1850 Census gives his property value of $1200.00. Place of birth Kentucky. 48 Years old. Farmer. In 1820 Census, Indiana, Wayne County he was by himself, head of household between the ages of 16-26). Wilkinson on 1865 Plat map (Atlas) with son Hiram. Wilkinson owned 90 acres SW of Old Losantville. NW of now Losantville. Property remained the same on 1874 Atlas. Property had been sold to Augustas Metzlker & Cornelius Halstead on 1909 Atlas. I.C. (Moses), and W. Gray (William) Show up on 1909 AtlasN.W. of Old Losantville. Nettle Creek Township population in 1826 was 596 souls. Wilkinson moved from Mason County, Kentucky in the Mill Creek area. P)roperty owned by Alexander was bought from the Mills. Trip to Losantville found Wilkinsons property, located just NW of current Masons Lodbe. Talked to resident on property. Said rumor that Wilkinson b uried a lot of money on property but they never found it. Said Gray was killed in tornado in 1920's between Losantville and Haggerstown. Lived in brick schoolhouse. Gray lived at corner down from her house to several years ago. (late 1990's) Death records show Matilda Long dying in 1849 and the gravestone shows Margaret dying in 1849. Believed to be the same persn. Marriage license for Wilkinson in 1853 marrying Catherine Fitch. (History books says never remarried?) Could be different Wilkinson . Cemetary stoen is located in the middle of cemetary on the north side. Found marriage in Early Indiana. Marriages under William instead of Wilkinson. Does show wifes name as Matilda, but has Margaret on gravestone. One of the names may be her middle name. Because name on gravestone reads Margaret her middle name was most likely Matilda.
