Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in southwest Iowa and currently live in a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska. Both sides of my family have strong "roots" in Fremont and Page County, Iowa, which is where I've taken the majority of the photos I've added to FindAGrave. Civil War veterans in SW Iowa and the 4th Iowa Cavalry are recent interests.

Simply taking a picture of a headstone is difficult for me. I use various sources to fill in the dash between the dates. If I've made mistakes feel free to send me corrections, or additions. I know that exact dates and places of birth and death, family relationships, obituaries, burial plots, etc. can be important sources of information. I will add information to any memorial I've created. I am more than willing to transfer memorials if they are not my relatives.

Feel free to retake and upload a headstone photo. Weather, time of day, peonies, etc. sometimes make a headstone photo difficult to read. Contact me if I need to delete my photo. I won't be offended.

Anyone may use any of my headstone photos from Find A Grave for their own family research.

William E.D. Schmidt
Dear kweaver,

I am researching my paternal grandfather's WWI army unit, Company B, 355th Infantry, 89th Division. According to the National Directory of the 355th Infantry Association, William E.D. Schmidt was a member of this unit, along with my grandfather, Gunder Anderson. He gravestone shows a different unit, but he may have been with the 89th at least for a short time. When it doubt, I keep them.

I'm not certain where I'm going with my project, but I'm wanting to eventually publish something. Should I do so, may I use your photograph of the grave of William E.D. Schmidt (Find A Grave Memorial# 78569485)? Please let me know.

With kind regards,

Bryan Anderson

Hi Kathy... Would you Please transfer the memorials in Westville and Mariam-Benedict to me. I retired a year ago and I have been researching since then. I just found the death certificate on Virginia Clyburn Wight memorial number 44382108. She died in Michigan of spastic paraplegia. My findagrave # is 47274037. Thanks

Latimer Memorials
Are you related to John Carson Latimer (69291623)
and Nancy Ann Pierce Latimer {69291731)? If not would it be possible to transfer these to me? They are my 3g grandparents.

Emily Minturn
Hi! Emily's husband, Daniel's military headstone is visible; however, neither Emily's or their childrens' headstones are. I've talked with the caretaker and he said Emily is, indeed, buried south of Daniel. He also stated that the children: Willie, Mary, Charlie, and Lena are also buried with their parents. As you can see by the photos, these headstones are not visible. With the ground frozen there was no way to see if there is anything there at all. There are, however, two small rectangles with no inscriptions. My guess is that this is where the children may be located. Feel free to contact Gene Stottenberg at 1-402-669-8323 and ask him directly for more information. Oh, and Gene's records show Emily dying in 1927 not 1920. Sorry I couldn't have been of more help. Maybe after the ground thaws we can check to see if there are any headstones buried. ~Cook
