Like many of you, we've suffered great loss:
the loss of our first born son, Timmy, my little sister and mom, and all our grandparents.
Thank you so much for every flower and loving thought. Each one means so much. Every time we read one, we're completely touched by the outpouring of loving kindness.
If you'd like a memorial transferred, please don't hesitate to ask. It's an honor to transfer to a relative who wishes to take ownership.

My OH-SO-VERY, Deepest Desire!
I want relatives who were:
♦ Avid corresponders, patriotic and clubby,
♦ Who joined every patrimonial society they could find,
♦ Fought, yet survived every battle and skirmish,
♦ Kept diaries and thoroughly documented trivial events in their family bibles,
♦ Listed all their addresses,
♦ Had paintings made of their houses,
♦ Spent every dime and resource on tintypes and photographs,
♦ Dated every piece of paper they ever touched,
♦ And who repeatedly donated land for family-named cemeteries as they migrated west!

|V.T.Solt||Your grandfather Quentin Larry Spencer|
I found this site by accident and read about you and how you met your grandfather Larry, and that you did not know where he was buried. I see that there is a profile for him on this site now. I am leaving this message because he is my father, your mother is my half sister. I am very sad that I never got to know her. I believe that my father found out about your mothers passing through my half brother ( your Uncle) Jimmy. He is the one half brother I got a chance to meet,it was 46 years ago. If I can answer any questions for you I will try. Wish I could figure out how to leave a private message for you.

And thank you. I've really enjoyed documenting Old North Church, photographing and marking the GPS of each headstone, and actually uncovering many that had been buried due to time and weather. I, too, have many relatives buried there, including grandparents, great-grandparents and many aunts and uncles. I no longer live nearby, so yes, please, if you see any new headstones, do add that information and picture if you can. I have found the FindaGrave app on my phone very useful for this kind of work.

hmmm. Went back and checked my past edits. I submitted an edit in Feb 2015 because Vera Mae was listed as Vera Mae Smelley. My edit was to change her maiden name to Smelley and her last name to Schindler. Looks like it was approved. I haven't submitted an edit since.

Hi, and thanks for writing. Sorry to hear that you've been ill, and I hope you're feeling better! To answer your question, no, I am not a descendant, rather my husband is a descendant of the Carpenter who married Electa Lakeway (however you spell her name). I suppose the question might be whether his name was David or Davis. On their son Ira's death certificate (posted on his memorial), his name was David; and in the list of Isaac and Mehitable's children, you wrote that he had a son named David. On the memorial you have though, you say Davis. Actually in 1850, just two years before he died, David Carpenter, his wife Electa and daughter Welthy were living in Columbus, Warren Co., PA, not New York. So I guess my other question is--are you sure that David died in Chautauqua Co., NY? But if it's going to be a lot of trouble for you or your husband to answer these questions, that's okay. I'm not researching the Carpenters at the moment, in fact, I'm working on another big project. Whenever I get back to work on the Carpenters, I can always write again.
|Peggy Perkins-Arnot||Garrett David Buckner|
I see you have listed a definite birth and death date for Garrett David Buckner. Unfortunately, while he is thought to be buried in or near this cemetery, there is no headstone for him so no dates are available. The only primary information in public records for his birth in the 1850 census (born about 1809 in NC) and death his probate (death about August 1853).
Since these dates have been added to Find-A-Grave, people are using them as primary documentation for his birth and death dates, but no documentation has been provided. Would you please provide documentation for these dates?
Thanks for all your hard work!
|Old bones Becky||Etha Estella Spelce|
Hi, Would you please change the date of her death to 1958, per her stone. Thank you, Becky
