I'm a retired Electrical Engineer ... having worked in the communications industry (microwave & fiber optics systems design) for slightly more than 20 years and a little less than 10 years in the wireless LAN and semiconductor development industries. I live just north of Dallas (Texas) and have been here since the mid 1980s.

I went through my teenage years back in the 1960s in San Marcos (between Austin & San Antonio) and, although I have lived in the Dallas area for years, I still consider myself a 'central Texan'.

I've always been interested in history (and geography) and when I think about the people who have lived-and-died before me it makes me wonder what their thoughts were and how different their lives must have been due to the differences in technology.
