Bio Photo Greetings from Holland, Michigan - the Tulip City!

It's always been important to me to remember my loved ones. Fate led me here many years ago and allowed me to enter friends and family members.
My Husband and I aren't doing as much requests as we used to but if my current entries have any inaccuracies please let me know. Send me your edits as well. Someday, someone down the road will need the most accurate information on their loved ones and you are part of that process too.

I will also transfer any entries I have entered to family members without hesitation if you are related to them. I see no need to keep family members apart and neither should anyone else. I know what the F.A.G. rules are but I'm not a stickler. Just don't ask for any of my direct relatives.

I would like to acknowledge Hope College and it's work with the Joint Archives of Holland for its amazing work in keeping up the accuracy of Holland's history and her pioneers.

searching for ancestor burial in or near Wayland, MI
Hello Leigh Ann,
I see that you afe an active findagrave poster located in Michigan.

I have been searching for a burial location and date for one of my ancestors whom I believe died between 1870 and 1875 in Wayland, Alleghan County, Michigan.

She was a Native American. Potawatomi to be exact. I know she lived here in 1870 and was on the 1870 federal census with man named Rev Keokishcum. I think he was an Ottawa preacher.

I am familiar with many old Indian burial grounds and that many do not have headstones. But I am praying that in 1870 - 75 that the local records would be published by this time.

Is there any chance I could get your assistance in trying to track down her burial place or date?

She was Native and her only name she went by was To-gah. Sometimes depending on the search engine, To gah. or Togah will hit on any search query.

If you charge a fee please let me know I will see how much I could afford to pay for a successful search.

If you do not hire out or cannot help me do you know anyone who lives near Wayland, Michigan who could possibly help?

If you have any search queries in or near metro Oklahoma City we could barter. Thank you.
(Sorry this message is so long)

edited birth month & day for Aaltje Prins
Hi Leigh Ann,

I edited the birth information for Aaltje Prins, my GG Aunt. The date was when her birth was recorded. Her birth was actually October 31, 1831, Usquert, Groningen, Netherlands. Here is a link to the original record:

Thanks for all your work on Find a Grave. It's much appreciated.

RE: Laurel Chamberlin
I went in again and tried and it let me do it, so the notes are off. My apologies.

Thanks, Can you also take the map down? I originated the page, but I did not add the two notes. Can you go in one more time and see if they'll let you delete them? If not, I'll go through admin. Thanks, Catherine

Laurel Chamberlin
Hi Laurel, go ahead and delete the pictures and notes. We've confirmed it is the same person on both pages, the the other page has been deleted. Wondering if this was another Chamberlin buried in Potter's Field? Thank you, Catherine

Hi Leigh Ann, might you hold off about deleting anything from Laurel Chamberlin's page. See note below. A fellow Find A Graver believes we have two different people here. I'll get back to you if and when we sort this out! Thanks. Catherine

Hi Leigh Ann, I have a favor to ask. It turns out Laurel Chamberlin was not buried in Potter's Field in Oakwood Cemetery in Allegan. There is a headstone for both he and his wife Marie; it is hard to read, but clearly it is his. You've posted two photos on my page for him. Might you remove them? I'm hoping to have the actual headstone photo posted by the photographer who originally posted it. Also, You added a note to his marker inscription that I cannot remove. Can you see if you can get it down from your end? Thanks for your help on this: [Add Marker Transcription]
Note: Note: "Laurel is buried in an area called "Potters Field", an area set aside for those who could not afford the burial process and did not have money to purchase a stone. It's only about 3 sections big." (Leigh Ann, Find A Grave contributor)
I also cannot edit the "plot" note at the very bottom of the page. Thank you, Catherine
