I am the oldest son of Wilbur James Priest and Rose Louise Cupps. I was born and raised in the Toledo, Ohio area. I have been doing genealogy research since I was about 9 years old. |
I am a member of:
GCS - Genealogy by Computer Society of Toledo
LCCOGS - Lucas County Chapter OGS
NGS - National Genealogy Society
OGS - Ohio Genealogical Society, serving as a Trustee
APG - Association of Professional Genealogists
I am a frequent speaker at local, regional, and national society meetings and seminars.
I am doing a one name study and have done extensive research on the surname Priest. I am currently preparing an interactive CD and a multi-volume book which will exceed 4,800 pages on the Priest family when it is released. My direct line ancestors came from Wales and settled in Virginia, then later moving to Licking County, Ohio.
I am also researching my other paternal line - Ankney/Ankeny and my maternal lines - Cupps and Schumacher.
Please feel free to contact me with additional information or corrections.

|Molly McLaughlin||Tuller Cemetery|
As a native Newarkite, where is Tuller Cemetery-my husband and I both agree we have never heard of this cemetery nor have I ever seen the cemetery on my history of living there for the first 21 years of my life.
|Molly McLaughlin||James Priest|
My husband's great-grandfather, James W. McLaughlin (1868-195?) of Licking Co., Ohio had an uncle James McLaughlin who we find in McLean Co., Illinois and Bureau Co., Illinois. We find James in 1850-60 in the Illinois area and noticed that the Priest family represented there as was the Moots (Moats family) and others we can recognize from the Licking Co., Ohio Eden Twp. area. Jimmy had a sister who married a James Priest. I am trying to recall when but think perhaps she showed a birthplace as Illinois...I see you cover the cemeteries of Licking co., Ohio. My husband and I both residents of Georgia now, but lived our growing up years in Newark, Licking Co., Ohio. James' grandfather was Robert McLaughlin of Licking Co., Ohio-his son Robert Jr. md. a Elizabeth Jane Moats and did go to this area of Illinois before moving to Iowa...where they died. I think I recall Robert Jr. and my husband's John McLaughlin (great-great-grandfather who md. 1817 Licking Co., Ohio, Elizabeth Shannon) having a half-brother John Bell also in this same county in 1850 or 60. John Bell's wife was a Brown a d/o Simeon Brown, which from vague memory crosses the marriages our James McLaughlin's maternal grandmother who was a Pitney of Licking Co., Ohio. They are so tangled, it is hard to write without all the various notebooks in front of me. By the way, my husband's grandfather, James (Jimmy)'s wife was a Lillie Mae Anderson....both buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark, Ohio on Cedar St.
I sent you a message on your private e-mail you have listed
|Nancy Jackowiak||Samuel M Priest|

I am the daughter of Clyde J. Weekley (son of Ada Priest). I wanted to thank you for the extensive postings on the Wilson's Cemetery site. I was not raised within the Weekley Family and this has afforded me more information on Clyde's family than I ever hoped for.
|Dr. Cynthia Mahaffey||Chloe Priest Dill|
Do you know where Chloe is buried? I made a memorial for her to tie the family together with another I was working on. I am happy to transfer to you if you wish. i know Myron is at Wingston.
I'm curious to find out if we're related somehow.
I received notice from Family Tree that there were some updates to my family tree. It's my understanding that the additions are yours. I know very little of my father's side of the family, most of which were deceased before I was born. I'm the grandson of Arista Priest and the son of Richard Priest and Rosemary Speller. Please point me in the right direction and I would be interested in your book.
Thanks, William Priest
|Sarah Van Buren||Who was William H. Priest?|
Looking for information on my possibly ancestor. Wm. Henry Priest b. 1816 or 1820. Died 1889 in VA hospital Leavenworth. Buried under stone marked Wm. K. Priest. I do know he was wanted by the law on charges that may have included murder. I have reason to believe he was Native American. His wife was Kerenhappuch "Happy" Hamm. He is described at death by the VA as 71, dark complexion,hazel eyes, grey hair. Had a sister named Martha who married a Rose.
Family traveled to Missouri from KY after his legal problems he may have been born Robert Henry Priest, used AKA's that we know of William Henry and Henry Priest. He served in Union during civil war, probably because he was wanted in the South. His son Henry Franklin served in the Confederacy. Please contact me Sarah @ firstname.lastname@example.org.
|Chris ||Louise Karoline Marie Nitz|
Hello William: WOW! I just found her picture on my memorial. Thank you SO much. She was so hard to find. I never dreamed there would be a stone found for her. You made my day!
