Bio Photo Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

~ Walter Butler Palmer (1906)

"Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The goal at Find A Grave should not be to manage all of your family members. If you have information to add, you should suggest it to the current manager and they should make the changes."
~Jim Tipton, creator of Find A Grave.

Families we are researching: Buckmaster, Patterson, Wollam, variations of Teatsorth, Falk/Faulk/Falck, Johnson, Lee, Collier, Eschbarger, Orr, Brinton, Thomas, Grau, Hyde, Case, variations of Brandeberry, Richcrick (Reichenbach), Slote, Balken, Ulmstead, Flower, Dick, Graham, Hyatt, and many others.

Also a focus on our American veterans. We have virtual cemeteries for the 31st and 49th Ohio Infantry who fought during the American Civil War, and one for each war the Buckmasters have fought in.

Lewis Family

I am asking to kindly send my family members to me to take care of Lewis Cemetery in Michigan

James Lewis 28034532
Lydia Lewis 28034266
Richard Lewis 28034808
John T Lewis 28034864
Julie Beal Lewis 28034587

I remember as a child going to the cemetery and taking care of their graves. I believe if you do this then all of the family will be managed by me...their great great granddaughter.

Thank you..

Cynthia Lewis..

my Orrs
Harriet Orr married Edward C. Buck. Her Orrs were in Ohio and, before that, Maryland, so if there's a connection it goes pretty far back.

I descend from an Orr family, so maybe there is overlap there. :)

I meant to add that I am a Buck, descended from the Bucks of Athens County, Ohio.

I like the poem you posted; it describes something of what I feel when I visit ancestors' graves, or even when I pass the graves of other people who died long ago. I was curious about the poet, so I googled it and found that it was written in 1906 by Walter Butler Palmer when he visited the grave of his great grandfather.

Dave & Julie:
Thanks for the kind words. The only thing I can point you to is the website. You might try the state level officers in lieu of the camp officers.

The local SUVCW members would certainly want to attend. I would suggest you determine where the nearest camp to you is by checking our website at:

Once you know where the nearest camp is, an email or other contact would be appreciated. That camp may even be able to hold an appropriate honor ceremony.

Thanks for letting us know!
