He was the husband of my 4th cousin 3x removed. May I use his gravestone photo in my Family Tree? I will gladly give you credit. Thank you so much, Terry

|Connie Birse||Woodlawn Cem, Bluwell, WV re: Pearson Sides|
Greetings from Seattle,
My 2nd Great Uncle Pearson C. Sides (my Great Grandaddy's brother) is a bit of a mystery to me.
I see you have a picture of his Cemetary location sign (by the entrance I guess).
I am hoping to find someone to locate his headstone there and take a picture for me.
As I live in Seattle, WA my visits to the East are always to the Salisbury, NC family that remains. My chance to go to WV is very slim to take the picture myself.
I am unsure who to request picture of Pearson C. Sides headstone from.
Can you help or guide me to the correct person.
Most grateful and Sincerely,
Connie Sides Birse

You recently sent me an update and added a photo to this entry. I have added a news story and a photo of Nick. I have also added the obituary for his wife.
If you can send an edit with Nick's death date, I may be able to add his obit as well.

Thanks for the reply..... that is what I have assumed, but I do not have dates or wife.... so this will help greatly.... If I get back to SC later in the spring, I may go down via I-26 and stop off in Whitmire and see if either one is NOW buried in the cemetery..... I appreciate the help here.....

Hi Judy just an FYI. Kathy Snow Belcher Hartwell
Memorial# 70425644 is very much alive. I think this is just a maker for future use. Wonderful work.

Her only known spouse was Thomas Kindell. She was not the wife of Hale. That was her maiden name. There is a site, family search.org where you are able to see census records. You need to create an account, but there is no charge.
Judy, yes I am the daughter of Charles Robert Compton. I believe I even have a photo of Cornelius Compton. How interesting that you are in our family tree. I will definitely continue posting and adding to what you have started. Thank you for making the corrections to the two sisters and hope to stay in touch!
|Rebecca Barnhart||Nancy Delilah Compton Glass|
Thank you for correcting Zola Cassie's name. Her sister, that we called Lyle, is listed as Nancy Delilah. Her name was Nannie, not Nancy. I have their siblings' names that are not listed and will get all that information to add soon. Also, Amanda Elvira Hale married Thomas Kindell. So the correct spelling is actually Kindell. Some records have it listed Kendall. He was a mystery. We do not know what happened to him, but one census lists Amanda as widowed. I cannot find any death record for him. He just disappeared. I have found copies of a census that also referred to Amanda as Mattie, but I had never heard her called that. She did have a sister named Mittie. My father is the last of Cassie and Lyle's siblings living, so I am working to get as much information from him that he can add. I have many, many old family photos and the family Bible with all the family records. I have some travel this month, but will get back into this project this spring.

Sue Blanche Hale Compton was my grandmother. I see you have her children listed. You have Zala Cassie Compton listed, but her name was Zola Cassie Compton. Can you correct the record?
