Within a few minutes of a friend telling me about Find A Grave, I found my great-great grandparents' gravestone in Hopedale Cemetery, Christian Co., MO. They were Gabriel and Talitha Reynolds McMullin. First I let out a shriek! then I sat looking at the picture, tears falling down my face. I never thought I'd see their final resting place. I've added old photos of their family to their pages. I'm still hoping to make contact with someone there. (Success!) Thank you to their visitors for honoring them with flowers and tokens, they are appreciated. |
Since that day I have found other ancestors on Find A Grave. A special thank you to M. Correll and "jtf" for so many of the Wayne County, KY memorials and photos. The photos taken by Ronald Bicknese in Bills Creek Cemetery are also very special treasures. I will always be thankful for his effort to find my York 4th great-grandparents in that remote cemetery. Thanks to Robie Prater for his many photos and book HACKWORTHS AND RELATED FAMILIES in Floyd County KY.
Sincere appreciation to God's Special Angel for sponsoring our Mommaw and Poppaw Estes. They were sweet, gentle people. Thanks to all who have left flowers and tokens for them, and for other family and friends.
Strangers in the Box
By Pamela A. Harazim
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like.
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be tossed away?
Make time to save your pictures,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.
Oh how I wish I had seen this years ago!
My friend's missing father:
Sgt. J.W. Davis. When his final resting place is found an 'in memory' marker will be placed with his parents in Lucedale, MS. Flowers and tokens will be appreciated.
Many thanks, for Linda's daddy.

Darla, you are very welcome. It was my pleasure. Rosie
|Lღve Fღrever||Thank You|
Thank you so much for remembering my father Elvin Rickard on his Angel Day. Our family has missed him, these many years; so it's so nice to know that kind and thoughtful friends like you, have taken the time to stop by his memorial to leave a beautiful note and flowers for him. It means so very much to me, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. God bless you always!

You're welcome. Am working on getting ALL cemeteries in Hardin County photographed.
If you read my bio and this is your family, I would be happen to transfer this memorial to you to manage - just let me know.

Noticed you created Lawrence Thomas Singleton's memorial Aug 12, 2009.
L.T. is my natural father. My mother is Rena Davis Dick-Rena Davis Singleton-Rena Davis Piercefield--Rena Davis Ward (December 25, 1920-May 4, 2007).
I have no idea if we are Kin or if, how so. In 2015 I wrote a compendium book of the first 26 years of my life (July 12, 1938--Oct 20, 1964)for my children and grandchildren ( the book also included the major historical events in the USA and World during that period).
Lived with my Father, Grandpa Roscoe and Grandma Alice for 2 years before being gathered back to Florida in 1947. Never saw my Father again until 1984 when he was on his death bed at the VA hospital in Lexington in 1984. Will be happy to sent (gift) you a copy of this 'History book'. E-mail me your address if you desire a copy. firstname.lastname@example.org

Hi Darla,Do you know where Virginia was buried and if she has A Find A Grave Memorial? I can't find out anything about her. Of course being that she was born after the last census, there wouldn't be much.
I assume she must still be alive because there isn't a death record either. Was there an obituary for Beulah or Newton? I would love to connect her to her parents. Barbara

Thank you, sorry for the delayed response. I have been working on my side for awhile now. Time to come back to the Shell side for my husband.
|TC||RE: Shirley Watson Black|
I don't know if there was an obit for Shirley. You could check with the funeral home (Morris & Hislope) --- they might be able to help you. Shirley and I are 1st cousins, but I was only 7 when she died and did not attend the funeral. She was diagnosed with leukemia shortly after her son was born, and I remember being told that was her COD.
