I found Elizabeth Alford wife of James Albert Winton she is not in the cemetery where you listed her.

I did a search of Wintin and found her and the daughter that died as a child. And found James Albert and his son James A. using Wintin.

Typo - William & Eliabeth's other possible son was born after 1795 (not 1895)

William Jean & Elizabeth Goode
Did not even marry until four years after John Jean of Heard Co., GA was born. If you research them you will see they did not have a son of John's age in their household on census records. They have one known proven son and that was Lemuel. Census records indicate they may have had one more, but he was born after 1895.

Please remove the bio stating John Jean of Heard Co., GA was their son. To date no one has proof his middle name was Wesley either. Info is based on old family trees and was debunked back in '90's . I can't believe it has resurfaced again and there are now over a 100 people, sighting this source as their proof, that John Jean was the son of William & Elizabeth.

For more information on John Jean and his ancestors see:

If you prefer to do your own research you need to look at Chatham Co., NC deed records for Daniel, Jean/Gean, & Mathis/Matthews deeds as well as Walton Co., GA Jean, Mathis & Hopson deeds. You also need to look at census records and include: Jesse Jean, Sally Jean, Sally Mathis, Littleton Mathis, Littleton Daniel, John Jean.

John Wesley Jean
Find A Grave # 12554032

John Wesley Jean is the great great grandfather of my Mother in law, Georgia Lorane Jean. I have the same info on Find A Grave in my tree and other members have the same info.
Recently I received a message stating his father was Jesse Jean of Chatham Co., NC and his mother was Sarah Daniel-Jean-Mathis.
I was wondering where you got your information on Find A Grave and/or do you have any info on Jesse Jean?
Thank you.

My mother was buried at Greenwood Memory Lawn in Phoenix, AZ under the name of Truline Swaim. Can you still create a memorial for her?

RE: Update Silas English Memorial
Not the same person Jean. Sarah Elizabeth English would have been a niece to Silas and Elizabeth. Glad you're staying afloat over there. Had great time in Kentucky; hope you have a great summer.

Update Silas English Memorial
Jean.....I visited the English/Miller Cemetery again over the Memorial Day weekend. A photo posted by a contributor was supposed to be the foot stone of Silas' grave. I questioned that and double checked and it is not. It is the foot stone of Sarah Elizabeth English. I contacted the contributor and I think she will remove the photo, she's a very nice lady and told me last year she would remove it if I thought she should. After further consideration, I'm not even sure that I believe Silas is buried there. He died in 1842 about 22 years before his wife and it's quite possible that he was buried "down on the farm" before this cemetery was created. But he could be there in an unmarked grave too. Just thought I'd let you know that we do not have any conclusive evidence of the site of Silas' grave. Thanks.

RE: Sarah Lee English and Cora Lee Bennett English
I am so glad.

I have been working mostly on Find A Grave in my spare time lately. I decided to actually work on my trees in since I had been neglecting them. That's how I ran across your Find A Grave for Cora and the other one set up in Texas.

I am related to you. We are first cousins 2X removed. My great grandmother was Marion Ruth English.

I have been working on Cora Bennett's lineage for the past year and a half (off and on). Her mother was given as Mary Ann King with King being the maiden name in many family trees. However, I think this may not be the case. I believe that Mary Ann married a King. It is possible that Mary Ann's maiden name was Hamilton. I haven't followed her thread in our tapestry as far as I need to yet.

I am glad you are watching over Stephen and Cora.

Louisa J Dameron
Hi Jean, my great grandmother was an English, and my grandmother passed down our family tree to me. I was researching Louisa J Dameron when I came across your contribution to this site, which I thought was amazing, but according to my records, it says that she was Cherokee, do you know of this or have any proof?
