Bio and Links
Bio Photo I don't do genealogy myself, but I do have a great sense of the importance of history.

One of my big hobbies is photography and I often drive around the countryside looking for that one great shot. Cemeteries are full of beautiful pictures and the exercise is great. Can't wait to investigate the ones around here, and now with even more of a purpose!

It's not my intent to add Memorials, but if I do and you want to manage it, just let me know.

After having been here and watching the community for a few months I want to add that I consider this to be a joint project where our goal is to create a historical document.

I heard a story from a person who works at a company that manages two large cemeteries in the area. She had found findagrave and had decided to help out by creating memorials and uploading pictures and obituaries as people were interred in her cemeteries.

She probably hadn't completely read the rules but she was honestly trying to help. Of course she occasionally created duplicate memorials and the emails she received because of that were so nasty that she decided to quit trying.

So, because some people have forgotten that we are trying to create a shared project, not just gather as many memorials as possible for ourselves, this community lost a valuable resource. Luckily for me she's still a nice person who just wants to help and has so far been willing to help me with finding graves in her two cemeteries, but the larger community lost something important because of the attitudes of a few. That makes me sad.

Could you copy your pic from Carl (6186704) to Catherine (148645320). Yours came out better than mine.
Many thanks!

Thank you for 'linking' Alice with her family. I read your 'bio' and applaud you for saying "we are in this together" to do our best.... It is discouraging when 'nasty' people 'bully' you to point of quitting your research... I know!

Black Family
I cannot thank you enough for the pics of my Black Family @ Newville Cemetery, Cumberland County.
How I envy you to be able to visit a cemetery with the beauty that I see in the pics you posted. And to be able to work with such old stones and family history.

Thanks again!!!
Have a great holiday, stay warm & safe.

Centerville Memorial Park
Do you know why the Centerville Memorial Park address is listed as Newville,Cumberland Co.,PA-when it is actually in Centerville behind the Centerville Lutheran Church? Also,do you know of any way to correct the address? I am trying to find Anna S Detrich Behren's stone that is supposed to be in Section E in that cemetery but can find no one with records. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I currently show her under the Centerville Lutheran Cemetery but have been told that is incorrect. Thank you-Ruth

I have emailed the cemetery twice after my initial call and haven't heard back from them....sigh. I'll keep trying in my spare time, which isn't much with grandson's football games 4 times a week.
