Bio Photo I am currently working on Woodlawn Cemetery in Independence, Missouri. The cemetery was founded in 1837 with the purchase of 1.25 acres adjacent to the Stayton Family Cemetery for the "interment of all Jackson County residents". In 1845 Joseph and Sally Hansbrough sold one and 6/25 acres of land for use as a grave yard for persons of Jackson County. The land was to be used for the purpose of public burials. This established the cemetery known for many years as the City Cemetery. The land south of the original cemetery was sold to Father Donnelly in 1853 adding six acres on the southern edge calling it Saint Mary Cemetery for the use of Catholic patrons. These three cemeteries were combined in 1922 to become Woodlawn Cemetery. The Woodland Cemetery now contains 56 acres, the final resting place for over 33,000 graves. Within its walls is the history of the Civil War and the Sante Fe Trail.
I spent the summer getting the entire cemetery photographed and I am in the process of posting all to Find A Grave along with any information I can get. The records at Woodlawn start in 1897, but I started at 1910 for now because I can usually find some supporting documents to verify the entries in the book. Always willing to transfer memorials to their family. I also worked on Blue Springs cemetery the summer before. There are a lot of names that I am not posting at this time because I can't find any information on them other than they are listed in the records at Woodlawn. It only gives a name, age, race, gender and date of internment and most of the time a plot location.
At the present time I am mapping out the cemetery. I have documented Division 1, Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 A, 14 B, Stayton Meadows Garden, New St. Mary's Cem., Sec. 21 and Division 2, Sections 1, 2 & 3. I am working on Old St. Mary's Cem., Sec 17 now.

Thank you for transferring Aloysius to me, now I am going to ask a favor please remove his Death Certificate off his Memorial. I have been on Find a Grave for 12 years and if people want the death records than go to LDS it is free and they can find that information. I you look at his death certificate you would notice the person who gave the information didn't know who his mother was if anyone does genealogy they would know the mother was Mary Eliz McDaniel not Lydia. I don't know anything about Spencer E Harrington except when Mary Eliza died in 1886, he probably remarried, no death record or burial record for him except he was living in Kansas. Mary Eliza McDaniel married him in 1884 had one son Aloysius and died in 1886. She was Catholic and buried in Catholic Cemetery. He never knew his mother, but was raised by Margaret McDaniel who never married and is buried in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Shawnee, Johnson County, Kansas. Thank You.

Hi Mr. Meador,

Thank you for creating a page for my great-grandfather Homer Robertson and my step-great-grandmother Edith Perdue. I have been putting a collection of graves together for my grandmother and I would really appreciate you transferring these graves over to me so I can work on them with her. Also, Homer and his first wife Thelma had a child name Katherine Elizabeth Robertson who is buried in Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence, Missouri. I saw that you live in the independence area and was wondering if you had an email for that cemetery as I could not find one. I am trying to find a picture of her grave for my grandmother and I would need a plot number because the cemetery is so big. If you have any information that would be great.
