I am trying to add a pictorial record for our local cemeteries before they are lost forever. I see so many unmarked graves or unreadable headstones. They will be lost forever. Remember your past generations.

I want to thank all who send in corrections/additions for the memorials I have created. I will make the corrections as soon as possible. Please use the edit tab on the memorial.

My feelings are in each family we are called to find the ancestors.
To put flesh on their bones and make them live again,
To tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve.
To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead,
Breathing life into all who have gone before.
We are the story tellers of the tribe.
We have been called as it were by our genes.
Those who have gone before cry out to us:
Tell our story.
So, we do.
In finding them, we somehow find ourselves.
How many graves have I stood before now and cried?
I have lost count.
How many times have I told the ancestors
you have a wonderful family, you would be proud of us?
How many times have I walked up to a grave
and felt somehow there was love there for me?
I cannot say.
It goes beyond just documenting facts.
It goes to who I am and why I do the things I do?
It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever
to weeds and indifference and saying I can't let this happen.
The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh.
It goes to doing something about it.
It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish.
How they contributed to what we are today
It goes to respecting their hardships and losses,
their never giving in or giving up.
Their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family.
It goes to deep pride that they fought to make and keep us a Nation.
It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us
That we might be born who we are.
That we might remember them.
So we do
With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence,
Because we are them and they are us.
So, as a scribe called, I tell the story of my family.
It is up to that one called in the next generation,
To answer the call and take their place in the long line of family storytellers.
That is why I do my family genealogy,
And that is what calls those young and old to step up and put flesh on the bones.

Good Morning Henry!!

Was excited to notice that you have added a spouse to my husband's uncle. I am needing to get in touch with the person who asked your to connection Billy with Julia Cagle McCowin. They have information that I don't and I am hoping to establish an open line of communication with this family lineage.

Would you please give me as much information as you are allowed? That would be fantastic!!!!

Benjamin Franklin Batchelor
I am researching the descendants of John and Jane Batchelor. I'm wondering how you identified B.F. Batchelor as a descendant? I see a Franklin Batchelor in the family in the 1850 census, however, John's will does not mention him, nor is he mentioned in John's 1812 pension documents. Do you have any documentation that shows him as the child of John Batchelor? Thanks!

Just curious... How are you related to Ted and Angie? I remember putting in a photo for Ted, but it has somehow disappeared.

LS Nelson aka IS Nelson and Israel Nelson

Both Rev. Anderson Cole and Rev. LS Nelson are part of my family tree. Can those markers be transferred to my account? When you went to view the Oak Ridge Cemetery, was there a photo for LS Nelson tombstone? I a in search for a photo. His name should be I S Nelson initials for Israel Nelson. He was a minister in Arkansas and a half brother to Bishop Charles Harrison Mason the founder of the Church of God In Christ Fellowship.

Thank You

Sarah Breithaupt
Hello Henry,
First thank you for making memorial pages for my grt grt grandparents Truman and Sarah Breithaupt buried in Moseley Cemetery. I am writing to find out if there is a church associated with this cemetery? I have been trying to find Sarah Breithaupt's death record to figure out the names of her parents. ( I know the names, but have no actual proof.) Thank you for reading my note. Claire

Rick Mollica
Thanks for creating the memorial for my grandmother, Helene J Cassilly. Many of her grandkids live in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maryland - so we have never seen her grave site.
Thanks again!
