Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a volunteer photographer for Find A Grave. This allowed me to be in the right place at the right time, so I am now also the Caretaker/General Manager for Hillcrest Abbey. This is the oldest crematory west of the Mississippi River and one of the oldest in the entire United States. I love researching burial records for my customers who need help completing a family tree or locating a lost ancestor.

RE: Henry & Minnie Roeth
Hi Steve,

Thanks so much for helping me out. I now see in Findagrave where Hillcrest Abbey is also listed as Valhalla Hillcrest Abbey which is different from Valhalla Cemetery. I thought I was going crazy. I couldn't figure out why I would put someone buried in Valhalla Cemetery in Hillcrest Abbey. Got it. Thanks again.

Henry & Minnie Roeth
Hi Steve,

I removed Henry & Minnie Roeth from Hillcrest Abbey, and changed their burial status to unknown. Looking at their death certificates they both say Valhalla Cemetery. On Minnie's death certificate it specifically lists her disposition as "removal" rather than "burial" or "cremation." I don't know exactly what "removal" means in this context. Would a cemetery keep "removal" records separate from "burial" or "cremation" records? I thought you might have some insight for me? Thanks.

Henry Kuhlman
Thank you so much for finding the information on Henry Kuhlman. All I had was a death record that said he was at Missouri Crematory-I appreciate your taking the time to find that his ashes were sent to Frieden's Cemetery.
