I am very interested in the early history of the industrial cities of Paterson and Newark, New Jersey.

My ancestors were silk manufacturers in Paterson, New Jersey, and in Macclesfield, Cheshire, England during the 19th and 20th centuries.

Please feel free to use photographs or information if it is to benefit your family research.

It is my desire to transfer all memorials of those I entered in Cedar Lawn and Mount Pleasant Cemetery to their descendants and all those doing their family genealogy. I am glad to transfer memorials to any family members or descendants who request regardless of the general transfer guidelines.

I want to thank you for all the work you have done for Find A Grave. I have a question for your about Eddy Pulhamus son of David and Hannah who died in 1871 at a very young age.

I have a death certificate for Edward Pulhamus who died at 4 months old on Feb 20, 1871 with his mother Sarah Pulhamus in Paterson. His father Aaron was David's father.

can you tell me where you got the information? and can I have a copy?

Mildred Sarah [Healy] McClean
Found on Healy Memorial reference (Healy family plot:Section 2, Lot 243 North) a reference to Mildred Sarah [Healy] McLean who is said to have been buried in the McClean family plot on Nov 13, 1907 - Plot: Section 2, Lot 332 North. Wife of Robert McClean.
But I cannot find this Robert McClean or anything else about the McClean plot - can someone help me with this information.
Thanks, Olive

I fond this article on the death of this gentleman. Maybe you can include it in the memorial. Thank you. Mary

Article from the Abilene Daily Reflector, Abilene, Kansas, 27 October 1888 reads...

Paterson, New Jersey, October 25 - Thomas Douglas Hoxsey, paymaster in the United States Navy, committed suicide last night by shooting himself in the head in a secluded spot in the handsome grounds of the family place at Haledon. He was stationed at the Brooklyn Navy yard. The paymaster's wife died about two years ago. Since then he has been very despondent and grief over his loss is the only motive that can be assigned for his act. Some of his friends believe the shooting was accidental.

Thank You
I really appreciate your help in adding Section 6, Lot 360 in Cedar Lawn to Find-a-grave. The markers were only recently installed and it was great to see that they were already part of Find-a-grave. I too have ancestors who were in the Paterson silk industry and who emigrated from Macclesfield in England (in fact, Matthew Cosgrove (in Lot 360) was a silk loomfixer, son of silkweaver, who was born in Macclesfield).

Thanks again.

Paul A. Brown
Charles Duval Beckwith/Charles Dyer Beckwith
He is listed in your obituary as Charles Duval, but in Wikipedia and Political Graveyard as Charles Dyer.

I was wondering where you came up with the middle name of Duval?
