I am interested in researching JETT/GARRISON families mainly in Iowa/Tennessee/Kentucky/Oklahoma/Missouri/Arkansas/Texas and Virginia and GORVIN/ORGAN/MURPHY families|
I WOULD BE HAPPY TO TRANSFER ANY MEMORIAL! Just ask
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

William Jennings and Rhoda Boone Shofner. Thanks

I've been working on a book about the Shofner Luther Cemeteries. Just thought I'd drop a note that you have a McQuillen but if you look closely at your photo. Its Newton McQuiddy Shofner son of WJ Shofner
I am originally from Oxford, Iowa. Whenever I get home I try to photograph more stones at the cemetery.
In another search for my own family I did find an obit for a Margaret Gorvin, published in the Oxford Leader in 1920. She was born in Scotland in 1834 but moved to Belfast, Ireland as a child. She married James GORVIN. It says she died in Foster, NE at the home of her daughter Mrs. Margaret Plymesser.
Is this the person you are looking for a gravestone for?

Nice poem. Thanks for sharing.
There is a second Find A Grave set up for Sallie by Ed Sproules - it is #138676614. I sent him a message also.

You took a photo, but there is no memorial for the husband, Nathan. His wife, Zella has a photo though. I put in a photo request. His dates are complete. Would you please respond to that request with his photo from her grave? I didn't want to snitch it from you!
Thanks much. You did a lot of work here. Much obliged!

|Todd Whitesides||Betsy Cloud Jett|
Her marker reads Mrs Newton Jett nee Betsy Cloud. The nee merely means that Betsy Cloud is her birth name. It's not actually part of the name itself.
