MEMORIAL DAY

Beneath the boughs of ancient trees
A little flag defies the breeze
And every carvings's stark relief
Reminds us of a day of grief.

The flowers in the vase soon wilt
And over time, the markers tilt;

The letters on a stone may blur
But even after decades stir
The memories of those before,
Of how they'd smile and laugh and roar.

And standing on this gusty hill
I think that they are with us, still.

Kate Nachtmann
Lisa - First, I want to thank you for recently transferring seven members of the Nachtmann family to my care. I've been working to document and add details on these family members for several months now. I'm curious why you decided to do this since I had not requested it. It was a very pleasant surprise!

I've already started adding details beginning with the patriarch of the family (see Andreas Nachtmann #98240680).

One additional family member I'd like to request you transfer to me is Andreas' second wife

Kate Nachtmann #98240711

Once again, thank you very much, Ed Nachtmann

List
Lisa, Thanks so much for your list of Abilene cemetery burials that do not appear in their computer. Five or six of these are people that were cremated and are headed to Abilene cemetery. I found location of two others from National Grave locator and are interred in Indiana. Sandra Miller appears twice for Abilene cemetery & Roselawn cemetery, Salina. I have ask that this one be removed from Abilene cemetery. Pendergrast, Sam 2014 was deleted as he is buried in Abilene cemetery in Texas. I have changed 15 or more to UNKNOWN Location. They may never appear elsewhere for years. I appreciate your work on these "mostly" cremations that never made it to Abilene cemetery. Richard

Missing People
Lisa, I moved Ed Dent to Ashland cemetery in Riley county where his wife is buried. Do you have a list of the ones you did not find in Abilene cemetery? I will ask the office. These cremations are getting hard to keep track of and many times the URNS are not buried for years until the other spouse dies. There were two located this week that came in the mail from Texas for inurnment in family plot. May not get tombstone family said. Richard

Memorials in Abilene Cemetery.
Lisa, Thanks for your beautiful photos on my memorials in Abilene Cemetery & your notification to me that you visited the sites and added photos. I wish everyone did this--I have removed funeral home markers & old tombstone photos from most of these memorials. I didn't realize I had added so many memorials in the last year. Abilene cemetery is filling up fast--they are coming from all directions in the U.S. Richard

I have updated Nathaniel's page in Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka, and have sent a copy of the page to the cemetery office for their files.
Thanks for the edits you sent.

He sounds like a very successful young man who died too young.
