I have had an interest in local history for over 40years, mostly in Readfield, Maine. In addition to the genalogical research I have done, for my and several other Readfield families, I have self-published two books of Readfield VR's 1768-1976, several monographs and have several historical blogs pertaining to Readfield; I have taped several oral histories and "tromped" a good many cemeteries over the years! Am currently researching old houses in Readfield and the people who lived in them (book pending). In 2016 I released a book (350+ pages with 220 vintage photos) titled "The Founders and Evolution of Summer Resorts and Kids' Camps on four Lakes in Central Maine" (Echo, Torsey, Lovejoy and Maranacook). I am happy to help find and take pictures of gravestones, in Readfield and Vassalboro, when able. I also have a complete listing of all burials in Readfield up to about 1975, so can do look ups from home upon request. If your roots lead to Readfield I am a good resource and enjoy helping when able. Also be sure to see my web site www.readfield1791.blogspot.com Happy Hunting!!|

|Floyd Fifield||Edgar L. Woodis|
You created a memorial for Edgar, #154019848. Are you sure he is buried There? He was only married to Virginia 3 years and his name was probably added the same time as hers. But I would think being young he may have remarried and be someplace else. He may even be still alive as there is no death date
Trying to learn parents names of Hiram Frances SMITH, born June 11, 1829, Kennebec Co, Maine. Are any of the SMITH buried in Kennebec Co related to him?

I am the grandson of Leah Cole Wyman. I have worked on my ancestry for awhile Any information or photos would be helpful
|Debbie Smith Shaffer||Smith Grave in Readfield Corner Cem|
I am wondering if you can help me find the grave of Matthias Smith (1728-1806) who is buried in this cemetery, according to his descendants. Although your Ancestry page for him states that his place of burial is unknown. His wife was Comfort Carpenter.
His son, also named Matthias, is also buried here and his grave states his name as Capt Matthias Smith Died June 20, 1812: aged 53 years.
Thanks for any help.

Hello, could you please double check and see if I have correctly done as you asked in reference to Harriett and Joshua Bartlett?

thanks for the bio information, I have added it to the memorial.
|Gail Kelly||Abigail Hunt 111114720|
Just wanted to let you know that your memorial for Abigail Hunt 111114720 is a duplicate of an earlier memorial for her 71339137. Yours has a photo of the stone and the other does not. Maybe moving your photo to the earlier memorial would work? Neither are mine; I am just adding names to this cemetery from photos I took.

I see that you've included some photos for the Harris family. I think that the book they came from might also have photos of two people of interest for me. I wonder if you have access to that book and/or photos of Mary Frances (Harris) Shaw Attwood and her daughter, Alta May (Shaw) Hill? Thanks.

|Debbie Smith Shaffer||Captain Matthias Smith|
Your F-a-G entry and bio for Dorcas Smith Baker helped me find Matthias Smith, a brother to my 5th great grandfather, Benjamin Smith. After contacting the Smith descendants it appears that Matthias and wife Comfort Carpenter Smith are buried in Readfield Corner Cemetery. However, the only Matthias Smith that appears in F-a-G is their son Matthias who is also buried there (d.1812). Would you be able to go to the cemetery, find Matthias and his wife Comfort, take pictures of their graves and put them onto Find-a-Grave? His dates are: b. 1728 in MA and d. 1806 in ME. Wife is b. 1739 d. 1814. Thank you so much because I know this is a lot to ask!
|Sarah D||Alice Eaton in Middleboro|
I have rec'd your request for edits for Alice Eaton someone I've only known as "Miss Eaton". Did you know her or her immediate family? Curious. My family has taken care of her plot for what seems forever. She was a friend of my great-aunt and so we've always put flowers on the plot. As I say never met her but we honor our aunt by taking care of her friend.
