I have been researching my family history since 1973. Find A Grave is a great resource. Surnames important to me: Harp, Hoagey, Swavely, Krause, Sheafer, Kline, Keeney, Irvin. Most of our family was in Pennsylvania.|
Oakland Cemetery has over 15,000 known interments. The Bureau County Genealogical Society has maps and caretaker records for this cemetery. The BCGS has very good information on all the cemeteries in the county.
I enjoy the search and challenge of finding the graves. Photo requests get my highest priority. When I go out to fulfill a photo request, I photograph all the markers in the family plot. The rules I follow; "Photograph the grave/gravesite "in-situ", or as it appears in that moment in time. The purpose is to show the grave as it is, be it dirty, cluttered, broken, or pristine. It is not your job to clean it, clear it, fix it, or decorate it. The graves are not yours to do as you please. Remember, one person's "good deed" just might be another person's vandalism. Go take lots of photos...but do it like an anthropologist and do not disturb the grave site. -AJ" Mar. 10, 2013
When time permits, if a memorial does not exist I create one. I also search for some records to tie the people together and add a bio. I have a backlog of photos to create memorials. Each trip involves multiple cememteries and normally 300 to 500 photos.
If you would like to use my photos, please ask. I have recently experienced some issues with my photos being used inappropriately. I want to share, but I want to know who, what, where, how? the photos will be used. Transfers and edits, please use the EDIT tab.

I would like to take over maintenance of his Find A Grave if you would be willing to transfer same to me?
Find A Grave #48826003
I just found the tenth and final sibling of my maternal great grandfather among your memorials. I can't tell you how good this culmination of events feels.
There's nothing fancy or grand about her, her husband, her son, his wife, or their markers. But when she finally came to me in probably my 500th search for her, I cannot even describe the sheer thrill I felt.
I have no idea why I wasn't able to find her before. How hard should it be to find a woman named "Theckla"? But it was. And now I've found her and I thank you for putting her there in-situ for me to find as if I were walking up on her grave myself.
I read with interest your philosophy of photos and it so closely matches my own that perhaps it was kismet that brought me to your site tonight, for we share ideals as well as a passion for this goofy thing they call "Find A Grave."
Thank you. Thank you for being right where you are right now. And know that you absolutely made my day with your act of unselfish kindness on January 20, 2013.

Just sent edit requests for her parents that are buried in Riverside, Park Co., Wyoming. Sam should not have her parents buried in Corss Cemetery. They aren't on the original caretaker's records either.
Thanks for you help. Rita

Thank you so very much for the photo of her marker! May I ask if I may use this photo on my family tree. I will cite you as the photographer of course.

Thank you so much for the photo of Eben Burke in the Walnut Cemetery. It helps me fill out the family tree. Wish I knew where his parents [James and Francina JANES,1884]were buried. Francina should be around Bureau county somewhere.

I see the pic of his headstone with great interest. I don't have him on the cemetery list and always wondered if he was buried in NE. Do you have the names of the folks buried on this lot? The list only shows four, David E, Helen, Lucien & Luella, but I know the lot/caretakers records sometimes have more and I don't have the most recent list. Thanks for your help.

My apologies regarding the above. The sheet I have states what I asked for, but looking at the other members of her family, I see they are all in the Old Section, Lot 50. I appreciate your efforts and again sorry for the confusion. Pat.
