Bio and Links
Bio Photo We are volunteer members of the Wabash Valley Genealogy Society Cemetery Committee working together to bring the past to life.

We walk the cemeteries and photograph the memorials and tombstones. We cannot research your genealogy for you. Please contact Vigo County Public Library for obituaries; they also have online death records and marriage information at (Special Collections) Genealogy and Local History.

We have had several memorials transferred to us for the Cemetery Committee to maintain. Thank you!

Michael Tabor
Use of Photo
Good morning,
I am Michael Tabor and I live in Blackford County, IN.
I am currently developing family history book about Basil M. Tabor of Carter COunty, KY and his descendants, many of whom came to CLay County, IN, including Commodore Jefferson Tabor.
I am asking your permission to use the photo of his tombstone that you posted on this site at the Stunkard Cemetery in Clay County.
If you give me permission to use that photo then I would credit your society by placing under the photo a statement such as "Courtesy of Wabash Valley Genealogical Society Cemetery Committee" or whatever wording you prefer.
You may reply through this website or directly at
Thanks in advance for your help,
Michael Tabor

Theodocia Hayes, memorial 127412150

Theodocia is my 4x great grandmother, and so far, her life has been a mystery - existing only in the 1860 census. Thank you so much for posting her memorial, finding it has given us a bit more info on this elusive ancestor.

Take care, and keep up the good work!

RE: Vigo County original death records
Do you have members that do research for pay? I would like someone to read the original death record in the original book for our gg grandfather, William Conover. He died 6 June 1886, Vigo County. We have a transcribed death record that we don't think is correctly transcribed. There are 2 others on that are the original records for other family members. The transcribed that we paid for have several things that do not match the originals. Possibly the clerk has misread the records. We would appreciate a genealogist who is familiar with the older handwriting to look at the record. My family has asked the clerks before and were told the original books are not open to the public but possibly that policy has changed. Thank you.

Sure do appreciate the family transfer!
Thank you for transferring Love's Find A Grave Memorial# 38034804 page, to myself, in care of her son, Robert Smith.

We will work to add information to it. At 93 years young, he is helping me get his family tree together! Hurray for still being able to talk to older generations for genealogy questions!! Thanks a million!
