Please use the "EDIT" tab to ask for EACH transfer request.

The goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it.

****If you volunteer on this website and decide you no longer want to maintain the records please transfer your records to someone who has an active account and willing to take over the records. I am one of many willing to take over records. This really will help reduce duplicates. It would also be a good idea to leave someone instructions on how to do make these transfers should you go inactive without warning.***** Thank You (Borrowed from another FAG Contributor)

By Thelma Greene Reagan

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

"If you wonder about your 'roots' you have two parents, four grandparents eight great-grandparents and 16 great-great-grandparents, and by the time you go back 10 generations 300 years or so- you had 1,024 people from whom you are directly descended. --Mady Castro

Thank you for the link to his dad, it helped to make the memorial more complete. Families will benefit for years to come. Great job. Slick

Thank you so much for taking these pictures. This will make Don dry happy. Sad that cemetery is not maintained. Lots of history to be lost.

Thanks for the update. I don't get to Buna like I used to since we sold my in-laws place. I'm sure you made an 80 year old man very happy.

Homer, We received the following request and it is impossible to get to Jasper County to complete his request. Is there any way for you to go to Bessmay Cemetery and take this photo? Gate probably locked and you will have to walk in. I know there must be a stone for her because I have birth and death info. Do not know what happened to photo.

Picture of Francis P. Brown grave
Hi, My name is Don Dale in Casa Grande, Az. and I find where you have my Grandmother's grave listed in Bessmay Cemetery.
I have been searching all over East Texas for years for her grave and I am so excited that I have finally found it. My dad was orphaned at seven years old and never knew where his mother was buried.
Is there any way you could take a picture of her grave and get it to me? I am eighty years old and hope to one day come to visit the grave myself. Also, could you please let me know if the grave is maintained and if not who I might get to take care of it.
I would greatly appreciate your help with this and would gladly pay you for your time.
Thank you for your help/
Best to you and yours,

RE: Photo
You really got my curiosity up. I haven't found that notebook but went searching her ancestors to see if I could find a clue or spark my memory.

I found some other photos that lead me to believe the photo is probably of her HICKS grandparents:
William Lewis Hicks 1850-1922 [Find A Grave#11290968
1/w Mary Amner "Mollie" BOYETT Hicks 1850-1909
[Find A Grave#11290979]

One can certainly see the resemblance on both of their Find A Grave pages.

I'll continue to look for better proof.

RE: Photo
I goofed..... That's not Mollie's parents. I may have the notes I took when visiting but I don't have a clue where that spiral notebook is after all these years among the almost 50 plus I must have.

When time permits, I'll see if I can locate the 'right' one.

Sorry for the error.

RE: Photo
That picture was taken when my Dad, Mom & I visited with Mollie.

I believe the picture in the background are her parents:
Joseph Gautney Ratcliff (1869 - 1957)
Lela Gertrude Hicks Ratcliff (1875 - 1936)

Hope this helps,
