Bio and Links
Bio Photo Found this poem while researching through newspapers; it was published in the Rockford Journal; Rockford, Illinois; Saturday, March 2, 1872; p. 2.

Closed are the laughing eyes,
   Beneath their curtains fair,
And round a marble brow,
   Soft lies the silken hair.

Stilled are the little hands,
That clasp our own no more,
And still two little feet,
   That played around our door.

A little voice is hushed,
That we had learned to love,
And now its music sweet,
   The angels hear above.

When first the baby come,
We asked for her God's care,
And He hath sent His love,
   An answer to our prayer.

Our Father took her home,
   Up to His mansion fair;
We surely could not ask,
   More tender, loving care.

And yet we loved her so,
'Twas hard to have her go
To seek a fairer land,
   And leave us still below.

We know she'll not return,
   But in that fairer home,
The little girl we love,
Will wait for us to come.

168979049 Vanella Evanda Chambliss
Vanella Evanda Chambliss 168979049 is supposed to say Venita Ovanda Chambliss 85080858, which is already specified as being the daughter of Hugh Lemuel Chambliss 112242979 and Mary Ellen (Rutter) Chambliss 112243034.

I see that has an Illinois Deaths and Stillbirths, 1916-1947 record with the name Vanella Evanda Chambless whose mother is "Rudder" and father is Hugh Chambless". My quess is that the original document where this transcribed version came from was nearly impossible to read and so was nearly impossible to transcribe.

Hugh Lemuel Chambliss and Mary Ellen (Rutter) Chambliss are my grandparents.

Jesse Chambliss 168980385
If you remove Jesse's father from Jesse's memorial, the problem of Hugh Lemuel Chambliss 112242979 being both father and sibling to Jesse will go away. Hugh is a son of Ida's, not a spouse of Ida's.

Jesse could be the child of Hugh's parents William David Chambliss 76392786 and Ida Ovanda (Gregory) (Chambliss) (Johnson) Morgan 85113191. According to Ida's obituary, William and Ida had a child named Jesse who died in infancy. See Ida's obituary in the Mt. Vernon Register News September 6, 1952 page 8.

Hugh is my grandfather. William and Ida are my great grandparents.

# 99229796 Willis Sheridan Snider
I am the great grandson of Willis Snider (elder) at least part of your facts match mine. I am interested in finding out more about him. Have you been able to verify any of the facts you've stated. He had six children, and three wives. 1st wife, Mary Green/Greene was the mother of Bertha and Cleta Daisy Snider, what happened to her (unknown) where she is born, died, buried (unknown) 2nd wife Susie Anna Thies had Willis Sheridan (the younger), Leland Virgil, Tilman, and Pearl. 3rd wife was Ida Burbank, she was basically a companion. All three wives preceded him in death. I've read the obits for both I am left with more confusion and questions then answers. Anna Thies obit. records Willis Snider (the elders) middle initial as being a 't' instead of Sheridan, which blows my mind. In Willis Sniders obit it records the 5 surviving children correct. Does not say anything about his parents, nor does it mention an Andrew Larkin as being a brother who preceded him in death. It mentions an Aaron Snider and William Snider of St. Louis, as being surviving brothers. All of these relatives are completely unknown to me except Willis Sheridan Snider (the younger). I have pictures of him. I'm really interested in verifying that A.J. Snider & Eliza Ann Latter really are his parents and whether Andrew Larkin really is his brother. I hope my facts help you cause some of this doesn't add up for me. Anna Thies' obit says she died of Tuberculosis and was going to be buried in Morris Cemetery, unless she was later moved to Tower Grove.

Sincerely, Robert Jeffers

I replaced the virtual flower I left for James Riordan, as you suggested. Thank you very much for the heads up.

Dora Cochran #75307277
I sent you an edit to indicate spouse 1 (Hawkshaw) and spouse 2 (Cochran), and received notice edit was accepted....I just looked at memorial and it shows spouses reversed. Will you put them in order?
I was trying to get this memorial up-to-date before I notify Find A Grave that there is a duplicate -- #110028941 for Dora Hawkshaw. I requested the contributor to delete and he/she did not respond.....maybe you know him/her and could get it deleted. Thanks.

Thora Magny 163072364
I sent you a few edits and a request for you to remove this memorial. The edits were processed but the memorial for her remains. Could you please remove it. I created a memorial for Thora (my cousin) in the cemetery where she is buried and when I linked her to her husband I saw you had a link there for her. I looked at yours and there was little info and it was marked 'burial unknown' so I sent a note asking you to remove yours. If it had been in the correct cemetery I would have seen it and not created a second one, but alas that was not the case. Per Findagrave rules my memorial can stay, as it is correctly placed. Please remove yours. Thank you, SLW

James Pringle #136687106
Sorry to let you know but there is no cemetery here by the name Cape Girardeau City Cemetery. There are 53 memorial pages listed in a cemetery that does not exist. The problem came from the death certificates mostly where it lists City Cemetery as the place of burial. In the case of James Pringle, he was buried at Old Lorimier which is one of 3 city cemeteries. His memorial page there is #105879986. I will send you an edit asking to delete your page. Thanks Ruth

(correction) Sam Henry # 111004779
If you would, I would like you to edit Sam's bio to include some family information that I have gotten from multiply cousins over the years. Since we have no records on his parents, this little bio describes them and relates to a brother and a sister in findagrave. If you know how to highlight a name so that it can forward to another memorial, please do so. If not, just transfer the memorial to me for a few days and I'll put in the new stuff and then turn it back to you. OK?

Sam's parents were William Henry (1792-1859) and Teressath Sullivan (1802-10/13/1854). They were both born in Ireland. He was a former student or priest that left the church for PA with a woman with child. Teressath gave birth to a son John in PA and then they moved on to Bracken Co. KY where they married in about 1821. They moved on to Mason Co. and had 6 more children that include James #25673679, Sam, and Elizabeth Applegate #77174821.

OK/ that's it. Thank you, Robert Baker (middle name Henry).
