I brake for Headstones!|
Genealogy and family is the history of ourselves. I am truly amazed why and how I made it on this earth, at this moment in time, after uncovering the hardships of my ancestors, especially during the War for Southern Independence. I enjoy stories and pictures from the past, and passing them along to others, through e-mail and social media.
If I can help others uncover clues to their past, I will feel blessed by the Lord in many ways. So please don't be afraid to ask for help.
THE STORY TELLERS - by unknown
We are the chosen. My feelings are, in each family, there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all those who have gone before.
We are the storytellers of the tribe. All tribes have one.
We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us: Tell our story.
"Those we love don't go away...They walk beside us every day...Unseen, unheard, but always near...Still loved, still missed and very dear."

|Nancy Cornelius||camp family|
FYI.....I found a mystery yesterday. Searching in Morton chapel in Etowah Co. AL I found the other George Washington Camp. Wife is Martha McCaghren(? the last name spelling). He was not noted on find a grave. You have more of the Camp family than I do if you want his memorial let me know. Their son John married a Mary Ida Cornelius. I was constantly confusing the 2 George's up since their dob are only 10 years apart.
Thank you so much!

My aunt talked to her great aunt Clyde who told her that she remembered the day they told her mother (Sallie Norton) that her father had died. They sent someone to tell her after they had already buried him over in Georgia because they didn't think the family from Alabama would make it in time.

Hello, James G. Norton is incorrectly listed as being buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Berlin, Cullman, AL. It's unknown where he was buried, but it is somewhere in either Carroll or Douglas County in Georgia. We suspect he is buried in a different Mount Carmel Cemetery located in Douglas County, but again it's unconfirmed. He never lived in Alabama even though his wife and daughter are buried here. Thanks!

Sorry for the long delay in responding to your message. Joe Fox was my great grandfather. He is buried in Friendship cemetery next to his wife "Georgia Childers Fox" and his daughter "Eula Brown." They are buried in a cluster of Foxes, but not on the back side of the cemetery. If you enter the cemetery from the entrance that is located right in front of the church parking lot and the cemetery is on your right, they are buried on the right in the curve before you go to the back of the cemetery. They have white marble spread across the grave.
Merry Christmas Reggie!

I read you wondered why the will was not settled until 1740.
I have his death listed as 7 Oct 1740 Essex King William County Va. I will not say I know that is true but I found that information on others data bases. If you have time give it a check.
Thanks for the time you spend doing this work.

Check out Mrs. Krumholz - you will probably want to re-arrange the photos. I found a lot more on this - the story isa little different than what you heard. Maybe it got enhanced over the years.

Thank you - I will. Miss having it, but it went up a lot and I am on a fixed income. I just use it to help others, but love doing it. Thank you again - that is very sweet of you.
