Mother to 5 amazing kids. Blogger of Teach Me Genealogy. I started doing family history in 2006 after my brother's death and today we have over 7,000 BURNES ancestors that we are proud of and feel a strong connection to. My direct lineage came from Harrison County, Kentucky, to Hope, Indiana, then to Batavia, Iowa, then to Napa, California, where I was born. Let's Start Connecting the Dots! www.tmgenealogy.com|

I found an obituary (Columbus Republican, Nov. 5, 1906) for "Miss Jane Burns, aged 21 years, died of typhoid fever at the home of her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Burns near Hope. Funeral services will be held Wed. afternoon from the Church at Nortonsburg and the remains will be laid to rest in the Nortonsburg cemetery."
I see where you have a Samuel Burns buried at Norristown and I wonder if they didn't mess up the name of the town as Nortonsburg has no graveyard or church.
Hi Sarah!! Thank you for all your efforts in connecting families!! I was wonder if you are not related to Nancy, could you please transfer her to me. She is my 4th great grandmother. Thank you so very much!!

I need help finding where she was buried. She was married to David Mitchell Burns, SR (1790-1864) I have been unable to find her after he died. I have her dates, b. 1803-1884 or 10-07-1801 or 9-21-1877.
No one seemed to be able to make up their mind when her dates.
Hope you can help.

Thanks for the transfer. I've added some personal info and links and Reba says she'll have more for me later on.

Thanks for the help with updates and links for the Shoafs at Norristown. My friend and one time neighbor is related to them and her parents are buried there, so I was helping her establish links and updates for her family. I'll pass along Reba's thank you to you, too. She was grateful to see the many tributes to her family members there at Norristown.

You're welcome, and I'm glad I could help.
No, I don't live in Hope. I've only been there once & that was in the evening to visit someone at a funeral home.

I would you mind fixing the date listed for Jefferson Murphy in Norristown Cemetery, the date of death doesn't match the headstone date. Thank You
|Richard K Thompson||Bessie Gorman at Batavia Cemetery Iowa|
Sarah, I didn't know if you got notified that I filled your photo request for Bessie Gorman at Batavia Cemetery (Iowa) last Sunday. Another contributor had walked the cemetery and reported that they couldn't find the headstone, which I can understand since her headstone was somewhat weathered and low on the ground. I had a cemetery transcription with me so I did find it. I also found some other Gorman family nearby and added photos and memorials to them as appropriate in case they are related. Just wanted to make sure you knew that Bessie is now taken care of. All the best, Richard

I'm sorry to report that Violet's grave does not have a marker. I can take a picture of the gravesite grass next to Robert's marker or I can delete the request because of the lack of a marker.
Please let me know.
